GTA V Delayed, Now Out September

The hugely anticipated Grand Theft Auto V has been delayed. Originally due in the Spring, Rockstar’s widely sought-after open world adventure is now due in September.

“Dear all,” starts the statement from the developers. “Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.”

“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time.”

“GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.”

GTA V is our top 5 anticipated game for 2013.

“To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be.”

“We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”

There’s no particular reason for the delay other than the “polish” line, but this would put the game squarely in the path of the oncoming next generation of consoles – not a great place to be.

And so the teasing begins anew.

  1. Ouch

  2. I dont mind waiting, I have many much backlog to attempt to get through first

    • With you on this, fella. I’m looking forward to Dead Island: Riptide and clearing a wealth of top drawer games like Max Payne 3, Hitman Absolution, Far Cry 3 and more.

      Hell’s teeth!

    • Same here.
I think the first few months of 2013 are pretty busy as it is.

  3. 2 months before COD eh.

    • Which is going to affect nothing.

      • Actually GTA is probably the only franchise what could give COD a run for it’s money. Hell i’d guess GTA5 will sell more than MW4 this year tbh.

  4. Few days before my birthday, works out nicely.

  5. Makes zero difference to me. I still want it, I’ll still buy it and if they think it needs extra work, who am I to argue? There’s so many amazing looking games coming out, I really couldn’t be less interested in next gen for the forseeable future. This will be PS3’s best year yet.

  6. By time this game is out… there will be at least one new console on sale. Perhaps a PC version is coming which is a massive need for serious gamers. I hope so – least by the time PC gamers get it they wont feel they have paid for a useless product for an old machine i.e.: 360/PS3.

  7. Sucks, but worse news… Twitter is down!

    • This is currently making me very sad.

  8. Getting ready for a launch with the new consoles? Probably not though.

  9. Damn Sony might aswell delay Killzone:Mercenery now.

  10. More time for The Last of Us!
