I’ve heard nothing but praise for Far Cry 3 –Â TSA’s community has been very vocal about how great of a game it is, as far as I’m aware. Vaas is, apparently, one of the best videogame villains of all time and there’s just so much to do in the world of the third Far Cry instalment.
Even though that might be the case, I’ve been in a constant state of not having the money to spare since it released, so I haven’t yet got around to it. Fortunately, you lot will be able to convince not just me but many other potential buyers why they should (or shouldn’t, though I highly doubt that’s the case) part with their cash for this game.
We didn’t review the game so there’s no score to assign to the game from us – though it does hold an impressive Metacritic rating of 90.
Thankfully, teflon previewed the game a month or so before release. While he couldn’t go as in-depth as he wanted to, he gave us all the impression that the game would definitely be a hit, ending it simply with “it feels like Ubisoft are set to pull it all together successfully.” And I’m surely they did exactly that – though your opinion may differ.
Peter also put together some lovely videos (including the one embedded above) in order to still give a good impression of the game while doing something different from the many other reviews on the web. There’s not much else I can really say about the game – this is where it’s left to you.
So, did you love it as much as everyone else seems to have? Or were you disappointed by the third instalment in the Far Cry series? This is your chance to get your voice heard.
As per usual, just leave a comment below and slap a Buy It, Bargain Bin It, Rent It or Avoid It rating on the end, summing up your feelings. We’ll do a round-up of all your reviews next Monday, so if you manage to write a comment by Sunday afternoon, you’ve got a good chance of being included in the Verdict article.

One of the best games I have ever played to be honest. It has a mature story that isn’t afraid to show what it wants to show, and sometimes it turn very dark. The story overall is one of the best I have ever experienced in a FPS. The characters are fantastic – such as Hoyt, Vaas (love this guy), Buck and Willis.
The island itself is absolutely beautiful and FULL of things to do. There is so much content in this game it is ridiculous. I have to disagree strongly with some of the comments I have read about the game not being polished enough. I didn’t encounter any bugs throughout all my playtime, and the game is as polished a game as you can get by todays standards.
The co-op is very average though, but I enjoyed the multiplayer – especially the Firestorm mode. Single player is the main attraction, and the best part of the game, but the multiplayer is a nice bonus.
Overall, the game gets a ‘Buy It’ from me. I couldn’t recommend this game enough.

An initially great game that degrades through it’s repetition and run-of-the-mill story missions into something that finally becomes a boring mess. Rent it.

It looks absolutely gorgeous on PC, yet I haven’t found myself ‘hooked’ on it at all. The story hasn’t really gripped me that much, perhaps I haven’t got that far into it, but that’s not to say it isn’t enjoyable – the missions are great fun and just driving around exploring and hunting is great too.
I’d recommend bargain bin it as it is a good game, but I haven’t really played enough of it for it to be a great game for me.

I really enjoyed this game, loads to do and great graphics. The story wasnt the best but the weapon upgrading and hunting side quests had me hooked. I dont think I’ve ever felt worried about swimming as much in any other game. There was a real sense of danger in some of the areas with the wild animals. There is so much entertaining stuff to do I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It does have little replay value though as pretty much every trophy/achievement can be had from one play through.
On a downside, the co-op, I found to be nigh on impossible and these are the only missions that I need for the platinum.
I would say that if you think you can complete the long single player in time then rent it, otherwise buy it (as it is available quite cheap).

For me it’s a rent it, it is a great game but it has some really irritating niggles.
a) Story as a whole could’ve been interesting but they (perhaps deliberately) saddle you with the most irritating main character known to man. I think there was a reason he was mute outside of story missions.
b) Vaas was a fairly big let down, I thought his role in the story was fairly inconsequential and not very fleshed out. They give him some pseudo philisophical crap about insanity and think it makes him deep.
c) The amount of peek-a-boo moments when your “taken by surprise”, I mean you can take down entire encampments solo but you get sucker punched by someone hiding next to a door for the 4th time does tend to grate after a while.
d) Skill trees being tied to progression in the story, i’d rather just play it as a massive playground, unlocking interesting perks as I go but you have to reach certain parts in the story to get the more interesting perks/skills.
These gripes aside the gameplay and the environment are fantastic, the guns feel great to fire (The Famas being a personal favourite) and the crafting was a really fun way to get stronger. The random animal encounters were great, I personally had a Bear chasing a lion chasing a deer in one random encounter.

Playing the game on ultra settings on PC and the visuals are amazing! If next gen are adopting dx11 I will be happy :D
I do agree with others, the execution of the storyline is pretty naff but the visuals make up for it!
Oh and if you guys want another graphically awesome check out Hitman on PC with ultra settings. Seems to want more resources than FC3 weirdly but the tessellation is awesome!
