Sometimes, there’s an almost cosmic coming together of events that leads to a widespread assumption becoming accepted as fact. That almost happened over the last two weeks as the Wii U suffered a few setbacks with third party publishers before Sega’s Aliens: Colonial Marines on PC, PS3 and 360 was met with average review scores.
People across the internet put two and two together and assumed that Sega would not follow through with its tardy release of the game on Wii U.
Now, in a comment made to Eurogamer, an unnamed Sega UK representative has disputed those assumptions. “We haven’t announced the release date for it yet but that’s it,” said the anonymous employee. Rumours have been circulating that the Wii U version of the game was “postponed indefinitely” but Eurogamer’s sources seem adamant that, as no formal release date was ever announced, nothing has changed.
Previously, Sega has assured Wii U owners that the game would be out for their system within the console’s launch window. That window expires around the end of March so we’d expect news of a firm date very soon, if indeed it is coming at all.

This all seems to have stemmed from a single throwaway comment by a Kotaku editor. Internets.

The Wii-U version is being handled by another team isn’t it? Maybe they can fix it :)

Pedantic fuck :)

A pedantic fuck sounds like it’d be an awful experience.

A very precise experience…

There’ll be a market for that somewhere!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sega did can the Wii U version as ACM is a disappointment and chances are Wii U owners won’t bother with it due to it being average to bad on the other platforms. Unless they have outsourced it to another company that has not done Call of Alien and instead, an Alien game.

Call an Alien…
