A recent interview with Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, has revealed that all of Sony’s first-party studios are working on PS4 titles. When asked by IGN “is it fair to say that all of the first party studios are working on PS4 games?” Yoshida answered “It is fair to say”.
While the Sony announcement event showed us what Sucker Punch, Guerrilla Games, Sony Japan and Evolution Studios are working on, that leaves plenty of speculation for what we can expect to see from the other nine studios.
Given that two of those four are new titles within existing franchises, it’s safe to assume with some inevitability that we’ll see titles such as Uncharted and Gran Turismo at some point within the PS4’s lifecycle.
As with many of the post-announcement interviews, no further details were forthcoming. However, it’s interesting to consider what studios such as Sony Bend are working on, particularly as beyond their recent portable Uncharted titles their key franchise is Syphon Filter.
With the release of the PS4, is now the perfect time for a return from the series, perhaps being realised as some form of stealth and combat based MMORPG? Or will we instead see a fresh next-generation IP? We may only have to wait until E3 to find out.

With the new Splinter Cell coming out this year, a Syphon Filter game might work quite well if Blacklist attracts more TPS fans.
Personally, I’d like to see Sony London bring back to life 8 Days or The Getaway, although to make sure the latter comes a fair bit after GTA V so as to avoid direct competition.
TSBonyman
A new entry in The Getaway series could be good… i think my bad memories of the second game have just about faded..
DapperHayden007
But the original Getaway game was Awesome though ;)
I could imagine how nice The Getaway would look on next-gen and it would be nice to see a game returning to the UK as a setting, I am getting tired of driving on the wrong side of the Car/Road in games.
Or even better, Make the game based around all UK’s major cities, if TDU could do Hawaii and Ibiza, I am sure that would be easy to fit that much data on next gen. (Correct me if I am wrong ;) )
Airiaen
Euro Truck Simulator 2 does that! :D *cough*
Motalla
That is correct, I have been driving for quite some time between various cities. But it is difficult, oncoming trafic is crashing into me al the time, like they were modern day kammikaze.
hazelam
you should give Sleeping Dogs a try, it’s set in Hong Kong, which for years was a british colony so they drive on the correct side of the road there. ^_^
kjkg
Hazel, that confused the hell out of me. I’m Brittish, have been driving on the left side of the road for 7 years now, but because of GTA and such, I couldn’t get used to driving on the left in SDs.
Quite stupid really.

I’d like to see Tarsier finish The City of Metronome as a PS4 title.
An adventure game that revolves around use of sound to solve puzzle and such, would keep up the PlayStation tradition of delivering unique gaming experiences.
It should also be interesting to see what Giant Sparrow (The Unfinished Swan) and Plastic (LIS, Datura) will do.
DapperHayden007
One thing I hope for because of the following quote “For Developers By Developers” is that more games will give the player the tools to create there own things, such as SP & MP maps on games. It would be one of the best things to add to games IMO and less people could say a game lacks innovation because the community will create the majority of that innovation.
Sitorimon
LocoRoco with SixAxis/Move control please :D
Kamokazi-UK
After the PSN Coriccoco ( is that right? ) i’d love to see a full game. Hell even though i found them quite tough Patapon was fantastic!
Dom El
LocoRoco and Patapon are easily two of my favourite franchises – HD next-gen entries would be amazing, hopefully we’ll at least see them on the Vita!
taurus82
Cocoreccho!
3D LocoRoco rocking the world like Noby Noby Boy.
Germanos
A proper Final Fantasy game and Tenchu please :D also I have reed somewhere that GT6 is being developed for PS3.
KeRaSh
As much as I’m with you one the Final Fantasy part, Square Enix is not a first party studio.
taurus82
A Diablo style Final Fantasy would be sweeter.
Motalla
I hope for the first game I ever played, “Leisure Suit Larry, in the land of the loung lizards”.
Temascos
Rollcage, Colony Wars and G-Police please :)
Pie in the sky thinking aside, I’m sure the studios will come up with some amazing stuff. Since many of them already had assets in place for the next gen (Naughty Dog seemed to keep an eye on PC games like Crysis and what they were doing), the jump isn’t going to be too big. Question is, what kind of games are they making and will they do well enough for them to take risks on unusual gaming?
Tuffcub
Sadly all of those are Psygnosis games, aka Studio Liverpool, aka no longer with us. Boo.
taurus82
But IP’s still belong to Sony.
taurus82
*the IP’s
hazelam
it’d be more surprising if any first party studios weren’t working on PS4 titles to be honest.
rather than sequels, i’d like to see some new games, something that couldn’t be done before, not just the same thing but prettier.
there’s got to be scope for more interactive worlds with that 8 gigs, and no bloated os to prop up.
maybe next gen is when somebody makes those growing trees Molyneux was talking about for years.
Tuffcub
Wait.
Who is Dom El? Have we employed a Mexican wrestler? *looks hopeful*
Dom El
I’m Dom El – Sadly I’m not a Mexican Wrestler!
Tuffcub
Hello! *waves paw* Honestly, they’re bloody useless the management, no introductions, no internal memos.
Have you taken the TSA induction course yet? If not please report to my cave at the back of the office.
Blair Inglis
Don’t do it. It’s nowhere in your contract. Tuffcub is free from common law in his cave, so he does as he pleases.
The Lone Steven
It’s a trap! Tuffcub is well Tuffcub and is one of the two TSAers that my methods don’t work on thus i can’t prevent him from tricking innocent TSAers from going to his cave and doing the forbidden dance. Plus, you are not required by TSA to listen to anything Tuffcub says when he mentions his cave. In fact, run the other way when he mentions it. :-p
Tuffcub
SHUT UP YOU TWO!
Dom El
#Waves back# perhaps the consensus is I should just stay out here?
Glad to be here!
