Blacklight Sequel Bound For Consoles

Following negotiations with Perfect World Entertainment, Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Retribution could soon make its way to home consoles.

The PC-focused publisher granted its recent collaborator worldwide rights for a console version of their free-to-play, critically-acclaimed online shooter.

This latest strategic move by the developer will allow for a “great deal of flexibility in the growth of the Blacklight franchise” according to Studio Creative Head, Jared Gerritzen, who went on to say:

We have always had huge plans for the Blacklight franchise and with this move we will finally be able to bring the game to console.

The series’ first entry, dubbed Blacklight: Tango Down, originally launched on consoles almost three years ago to fairly mixed reception. However, despite its previous history with both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Zombie Studios has made no indication as to which platform Retribution will feature on.

Gearing up for its first anniversary, the FPS sequel recently received its biggest expansion, ushering in a variety of new maps, modes, and customisable equipment.

As part of last year’s “Free To Play Week” we went hands-on with the ambitious online shooter. You can read our in-depth preview here.
