Borderlands 2 Getting A New Playable Character

Gearbox Software have announced that a sixth playable character is coming to Borderlands 2. Based on the psycho enemies, Krieg is described as a “high risk, high reward character”.

Focusing on melee combat Krieg will allow players to deal heavy damage with his Buzz Axe weapon, Bloodlust, whilst also being rewarded for taking damage with the Mania skill. When Krieg is on fire his skill mode, Hellborn, will allow you to deal more damage as well.

Krieg will release in May for around £6.56 ($9.99) or 800 MS points.

There’s also a lot more content coming to Borderlands 2. On the 2nd of April players can expect an update to raise the level cap from 50 to 61, and the addition of Pearlescent weapon rarity. This will be free for season pass owners or priced at £3.28 ($4.99) for those without.

Also on the 2nd of April a separate update will add the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, unlocked at level 50, free of charge to all players.

The fourth campaign DLC will be out around June, which Gearbox describes as “the biggest yet”. There’s certainly plenty to be excited about for Borderlands 2 owners.

  1. Can’t help but feel this was rushed and as so the relevance of its content put in from least to most important subject matter. The new character was announced quite a while back. Totally missed out the end of June DLC too.

    • Scale of DLC*

    • It wasn’t actually announced, just hinted at, only now they’ve released some details.

    • I think they have rushed to compete with the release of Defiance which happens to be on the release date of the level cap increase and new character

  2. Video is private.

  3. I’d pay for an option to remove the crosshair lol(lucky pc community.)

  4. When compared to a lot of ripoff DLC merchants, Fearbox again proves that DLC can be done well and enhance the original product. I thought it a classy move to include the new weapons pack in the season pass, it clearly states you’re only buying 4 Campaign DLC packs so this is a bonus.

Regardless of the shit they get and it being popular to bash Gearbox. They are one of the few devs that seem to care about not ripping the customer off with built in day one crap. Borderlands has had a positive effect on my life and helped me through a dark time so they will always have my thanks for that too.
