DC Universe’s Infinite Crisis Getting A Free To Play MOBA

Warner Bros. Interactive has just announced a new game based on one of the most well known DC Universe story lines of the past decade. Infinite Crisis was a sequel to DC’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” that exploited the concept of a multiverse to make use of many different iterations of well known characters. It managed to merge the more modern, darker superhero themes with their historical, all American versions.

Now Warner Bros. intends to do something similar in a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game they’re aiming to release on PC this year. They namecheck Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman as two of the alternate versions of familiar heroes that we can expect to see, as well as Green Lantern and The Flash.

Turbine is the studio tasked with producing the game in a genre that’s really exploding recently. They’ve got some pedigree with online games, having previously worked on Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online. Their Executive Producer promised “fast-paced action, a major story arc, destructible environments, catastrophic events and a deep roster of iconic DC Comics characters.”

If you’re keen to get an early look, you can apply to join the beta now by visiting the official site.

  1. i’m not a big fan of these MOBA games, but i’d certainly give a DC universe, or multiverse, based one a go.
