Castle of Illusion HD Confirmed For PSN

The classic Sega Megadrive game Castle of Illusion is to be remade in gorgeous HD for the PlayStation Network.

“We have also been working very closely with the director of the original game, who is now at Disney Interactive,” commented Mai Kawaguchi, Senior Digital Brand Manager for Sega.

“We are having a blast working with her to realize many of the elements that were intended for the original game, but couldn’t be achieved until now due to the technical limitations of previous generation consoles.”

Sega promise to keep intact “many of the major iconic elements of the game” which will be out this summer thanks to the chaps working hard at Sega’s Australian studios.

The game has been announced via the US PlayStation Blog so obviously there is no mention of Wii U, Xbox 360 or PC versions but we expect some, if not all of those to confirmed shortly.

  1. Never played it. Is its target audience young? Or is it fairly challenging?

    • Even if they are they should still be challenging I suppose.

  2. Damn guess that ESRB rating was wrong about a PSVITA version :(. Won’t have time to play this on the ps3.

  3. what was the co-op one with Donald Duck?
    not this one is it?

i loved that Mickey and Donald game.
i want a remake of that one.

    • That was World of Illusion I believe. Can’t say I’ve ever played that one though :) I do recall having a Mega Drive cartridge when I was younger however which had Castle of Illusion and also a Donald game on it (Quackshot, I think?). Played both of those games a lot :-)

      • Yes World of Illusion, when crawling Donalds Ass would get stuck, Hilarious times :) and Quackshot was brilliant.

SO this and Ducktales, what will come out next :)

  4. Man, those screens look gorgeous. Never played this back in the MD days, only played World of Illusion, but I reckon I’ll pick this one up for ‘ahem’ my nephew when it comes out.
