Microsoft Send Out Invitations To Its Next Gen Reveal Event

Microsoft has just started sending out invitations to an event on May 21st. The invitations carry the Xbox logo and the time and date of the event, to be held at Microsoft’s Xbox Campus in Redmond.

Obviously, there’s no more information so we’ll have to wait to see if the always-on rumours are true, whether the thing blocks used games and what some of the new games might look like. We’d also suggest that, given the puzzling mainstream backlash against Sony’s unveiling, they’ll probably show off the box.

All eyes on Microsoft then, for now. Let’s see if and how Sony responds.

  1. Just show the box, and then completely change it by the time it comes out, just to piss people off and yet also prove that its entirely futile showing it.

    • completely off topic: are you the gent that gave a guy a discount code today via our retweet on Twitter?

  2. Never have been excited for an Xbox before, but I can’t help but be intrigued by the new console. Of course, that always-on crap would easily deter me, plus Xbox Live payments and several other things…but other than that I’m still interested to see who has the ‘best’ start out of the two.

  3. Wonder if there will be a live stream like Sony did?

    • MS are always all over that.

    • What if the stream goes down? That means we won’t be able to watch it, kind of like if a connection went down whilst playing a game on an always online console.

    • Yes there’s a live stream, just received email which states ‘Watch Live 6pm’ on Xbox.co.uk or Xbox live.

      • Cool, sounds like it’ll be streamed at a humane time for us working europeans. I was pretty tired the day after watching the Sony live stream until 1am in Germany.

  4. Will the reveal come with a discount for Pizza Hut?

  5. Good stuff, we’ll finally know the what’s what and can settle down to a serious, factual debate about which has the biggest knob. :)

  6. About 2 months too late, im more interested in PSvita PS4 connectivity than the kinnect, apps behind paywalls bollox that M$ will no doubt be offering.

    • Please don’t do that thing with “MS”. We try to discourage any pointlessly antagonistic shit like that here.

      • Well im sorry but when they put subscriptions services like Netflix which you already pay for behind the gold paywall then they derserve that acronym in my eyes.

      • Oh, you seem to be mistaking this for an argument? I was trying to be polite but, simply, if you keep doing that then you’ll end up getting banned.

Any out-of-your-way attempt to annoy another user is frowned upon, and we try to steer people away from doing it gently. But repeat offenses are punished in order to keep the general feel of TSA more friendly than most other places – for everyone.

        So: Please stop doing that.

    • And games. Its one thing I found lacking in Xbox, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be interested in the more obsure titles that Sony seem to get like Littlebigplanet, Heavy Rain or *insert some other game*
XBL is interesting but Retail is rather disappointing.

  7. At last we get something official about M$ console. I’ll look forward top seeing neXtbox but I’m pretty much guaranteed to get Ps4 maybe neXtbox too.

  8. I imagine it will be very similar to the PS4. I wonder what games will be shown though.

  9. It’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft have come up with, although I’ll be opting for PS4 no matter what Microsoft pulls out of the hat.

  10. Has TSA been invited?

    • Doubt it, sadly.

    • Nope, nothing yet. I wouldn’t really expect anything either.

    • TSA was going to get invited but thanks to Tuffcub waving his dongle around on the Kinect camera online, TSA has been blacklisted untill we sack him. :P Joking aside, highly unlikely as we are too small. I prepose that we start a kickstarter for TSA to attend E3 and steal a few PS4s and 720s. ;)

      • Who’s “too small”? Certainly not TSA…

      • TSA is the largest indie PlayStation site in the UK. Too small? Hope not. Whether MS think it’s worth inviting us is another matter entirely.

      • STEVEN!!!!! The reason is ‘we know playstation’ and any negative or pro Sony journalism is well advised to be avoided. Even if these guys arnt biased the site is calle TheSixthAxis… not TheYXABrick.

Even chuckled at myself then even though I know im being a div. lol

      • Compared to the larger and more well known sites, TSA is still fairly small and i think TSA probably don’t appear on MS’s radar. I meant nothing bad by it as TSA is easily one of the best sites on the net. But TSA does tend to get recognised every now and then by a publisher or SCEE. :) As for TSA being the largest indie Playstation site, i didn’t know that. :O Now, if only we could have a Page 3. ;)

      • GMA nominee in 2011? I think that’s pretty big indeed. Slightly baffled by your comments here Steven.
