Beyond: Two Souls is looking amazing and with its cast of A-listers, it’s hardly surprising that the film world is taking notice too. Quantic Dreams’ fascinating new title is going to be making an appearance at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival* on Saturday.
The game has been chosen by the prestigious Film Festival as their Official Selection and they’ll be strolling down the red carpet for an exclusive premiere of some all new game footage. Ellen Page will be there, along with plenty of members from the creative team who will be hosting a Q&A session after the screening. David Cage will be there, along with some other cast members, including Kadeem Hardison and Eric Winter.
One more piece of good news: the event will be live streamed so we’ll all have the chance to watch an hour from the game, the new trailer and a new behind-scenes look at the process. We’ll be hosting that stream at 7PM on Saturday evening so come back then and watch it along with us!
I know there’s an easy joke to be made in here about Quantic Dream’s movie aspirations but if we should probably avoid that for just a moment and think about what this means for the game, PlayStation and gaming as a whole.
*Here’s a fun fact for people who are as daft as me: Tribeca is an area of Manhattan, named because it’s the Triangle Below Canal Street. SoHo in New York is South of Houston Street. It’s possible that I love New York too much.

Odd choice of event to show of a game but with improving graphics and more actors working in the medium and being recognized, thanks to L.A. Noire, it seems logical to try some cross over. A good way to bring attention to the “grown up” side of gaming.
I say use the technology to get classic Marlon Brando back on screen or cut Shia LaBeouf our of, well, everything.

It’s the movie-like approach that Cage takes, surely? And the packed cast of recognisable actors “appearing” in it.
Ordinarily, I’d wholeheartedly agree with you about Shia LaBeouf but he was really good in Lawless with Tom Hardy. Not sure it makes up for… well, everything else he’s ruined by appearing in it… but yeah, he was good in that.

It does not. It’s like me punching you twenty times and giving you a tasty beverage once. Emotional parity is out of the window.
I say, soak his socks in petrol, light him and watch him burn to the ground. *rallies locals*

He was great in Transformers. His Optimus Prime make-up was world class.

Its style and technicality may well be inspired by films but in the end its still a game. You wouldn’t show a film based on a novel at the Edinburgh book festival.
Its Impressive that its made the official selection but I can’t help but feel a indie film, or a film that wouldn’t get the chance to be recognized else where, should have had that place.
Surely the games anticipated enough and getting enough press in the games industry?
And hey, its funny you should talk about Mr LaBeouf feeling like twenty punches for a pint considering what happens to him in Lawless.

@Peter: For a second I thought you meant Nicholas Cage takes a movie-like approach… It would stil be a fitting line… :P
