UK Games Charts: 13/05/13 – The Walking Dead Shambles In

We’re in a lull for new game releases. As such, Dead Island: Riptide has just achieved what no other game has managed this year – three consecutive weeks at number one. Further evidence of a lack of competition is Call of Duty: Black Ops II’s rise back into second place.

In fact, all of the top seven are former number ones.

The highest “new entry” is the boxed retail version of Telltale’s previously episodic digital release, The Walking Dead, at number nine. I don’t spot another new entry anywhere in the top 40.

There are two 3DS games in the top ten, with Lego City Undercover and Luigi’s Mansion 2 while the Grand Theft Auto games continue their resurgence at the bottom end of the top twenty. It’s interesting to see the effect that price cuts and sequel marketing campaigns have on chart positions.

  1. Didn’t that Persona 4 game come out this weekend too or was that the weekend before?
    With such a quiet release schedule at the moment I’m hoping both Metro and Resi Revelations chart well and shift some copies. The original Metro was ace and RE Revelations on the 3DS was probably the best RE title in years so deserves some success.

    • Persona 4 Golden came out in February.

      • P4 Arena didn’t though surely? I’m sure I’ve seen the likes of Shopto and GAME harping on about it over the past week or so.

      • Ah forgot about Arena, yeah that came out last week.

  2. Dead Island Riptide is top because it’s the best game since the dawn of pixels. How dare you imply anything else.

    Okay… it’s because everything else is a bit pants right now or has already had its moment in the spotlight. Damn you.

    Was still fun, though! :-)
