An entirely not-in-game CG trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins has just been released.
The video exudes moodiness and a distractingly overpowerful blue hue, but at least it’s another Batman game on the way.

The video also confirms that it’s coming out on pretty much every current platform, including the PlayStation Vita and Wii U.
Anyone pre-ordering the game for PS3, 360 or PC will get the Deathstroke pack.
The game is out in October.

As much as trailers without any gameplay do get annoying, this is still a great trailer to watch! Hopefully we’ll see some actual gameplay on next-gen consoles soon, though with E3 around the corner I imagine we will.

Not quite – there’s a separate game called Blackgate, a side-scrolling Metroidvania-styled one, coming to the Vita and 3DS on the same day. Shame, as a ‘proper’ Batman on Vita would be great.

It doesn’t look to bad as its using 3D assets and it may be a good catch for a formula but I know what you mean. I’d have loved an Arkham Asylum/City approach gameplay too.
If they build for the 3DS and upscale, I’m forgetting it.

I disagree. Most portable games fall over by trying to provide a ‘lite’ version of the full console experience and never get anywhere close to nailing it.
I think a dedicated, Metroid-Vania type Batman game has the possibility of being the best game on the Vita, if it’s developed with the same love and care that Rocksteady gave to the first two Arkham entries.

I was going to write about this feeling like a quick cash-in on the popular Arkham series, seeing how it’s a new dev and all. But then I watched the trailer, and now I’m interested.

Stil yet to play Arkham City! (Got Asylum platted though, which was great fun to do.) Hopefully the new developer is up to task, it will be challenging to match Rocksteady’s talent in this series but as the template is there all they need to do is match it.

Looks excellent. If it’s similar to the first two then it’s bound to be a big hit. Keep the same great combat system and all (or most of us at least) will be happy!
