Ubisoft studio, Red Storm Entertainment, is currently working on a next-generation title for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
This latest break comes from the updated online resumé of Senior Character Artist, Brian Spencer. Having worked on a small anthology of Tom Clancy games in the past, Spencer’s latest addition to a growing list of so-called AAA titles is simply marked as an “Unannounced Project” – and listed for both next-gen formats.
Though it’s safe to assume that the Tom Clancy trinity (Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six) will make its next-gen debut somewhere down the line, this next project could be something completely new for Red Storm.
On the other hand, it may be a port of the studio’s upcoming tactical shooter, Rainbow Six: Patriots. Other Ubisoft titles, such as Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, are also launching towards the end of the current console cycle and, as a result, are going “cross-gen”. In other words, they will be published on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One simultaneously.
With Rainbow Six in dire need of exposure, and Ubisoft’s penchant for experimentation, the summary above doesn’t sound too far-fetched. Either way, we’re sure to find out more next week as E3 looms ever nearer.
