It’s been a long wait. Back in February, Sony announced the PS4, showing the social features, the DualShock 3 controller and plenty of games. But not the box.

It was quite a smart move, allowing them to drum up hype for the console reveal at E3 and getting everyone talking about the games and features instead of a big black box.

And now, Andrew House has just stepped the stage and lifted the metaphorical lid on the PS4 – the below screenshots show that wonderful, black, angled box. This is the future of PlayStation.

What do you think?

  1. Not bad, better than the X1.

  2. Is is just me or does it look almost identical to the Xbox One?

    • I thought the exact same when they revealed it! Do think it’s the better of the two though…

    • Just heard a great quote on ign “looks like the Xbox One in italics.” Can’t argue with that.

  3. TAKE MY WALLET!!!!!!

Um……….. Sorry about that, looks nice.

  4. Was hoping it would be more curved, not a fan of the hard edges.

    • Certainly looks a lot better in those photos

    • Looks like a slot-loading drive, USB 3.0 x2 on the front.

No real surprises on the back.

Looks like there is a bar between the matte and glossy part of the console which lights up blue when on which is pretty sexy.

This will look amazing in my living room.

  5. Man that’s fugly! Think the X1 looks better & I never thought I’d say that about that VHS look a like!

  6. I really like it, more interesting than the box that is the X1.

  7. The PS4 design has already grown on my in the last 30 mins after seeing some proper pictures of it. It looks cooler than the Xbox One, though I still think it’s too similar really.

  8. It looks like uncannily similar to XboxOne, but squashed. It looks to be less bulkier than Xbox One but with about the same footprint… and is that Liquid Black i see? :)

  9. Not bad. Initial impression is nicer than the previous ones when released. It took me a long time to grow to like them.
