It’s been a long wait. Back in February, Sony announced the PS4, showing the social features, the DualShock 3 controller and plenty of games. But not the box.
It was quite a smart move, allowing them to drum up hype for the console reveal at E3 and getting everyone talking about the games and features instead of a big black box.
And now, Andrew House has just stepped the stage and lifted the metaphorical lid on the PS4 – the below screenshots show that wonderful, black, angled box. This is the future of PlayStation.

This was the part when my live-stream stopped working. I just saw some black square shape and then nothing until that guy from Sony Pictures presented (at that point I was actually a bit worried Sony would do the TV TV TV routine now). Nice to finally see the PS4. I prefer the design of the PS3 to be honest, but it’s not bad. It’ll look nice under my TV :)

That thing is fucking pretty, it looks like the PS2 Slim 9000’s beefed up love child. Nice subtle branding, fairly simple, stackable and sensibly PS2 inspired, as long as its not noisy Sony can have my wallet too! Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the news now.

The ‘AUX’ port on the back looks suspiciously like a USB connection and I’d guess is intended for the camera. But yeah, would have liked at least a couple on the back.

Well its certainly striking – at first i thought it looked awful, but within a few minutes (and several screenshots later) i appreciate its design, but tbf no one actually looks at the console when playing so it doesn’t really matter anyway.
I will be waiting for the slim before diving in this gen, so doesn’t really matter to me at this stage anyway.

love it, want it, very nearly need it. I’m glad it’s similar yet better looking that the xbox, which is really, just a box. I’ve already got one of them by my telly, it’s a Humax Foxsat and it does the telly for me – not the games console…
