Don Mattrick has given an interview to GameTrailers talking about the Xbox One and the reception it has got. Obviously he isn’t going to come out and say that reaction has been negative but there are some instances in the interview that make you raise your eyebrows. One of those points is that Don Mattrick advises that if you don’t have internet access then you can get an Xbox 360.
The exact segment about the Xbox 360 starts around the 1:40 mark. Even Geoff Keighley seems a little taken back by replying with. “So stick with 360. That’s your message?”
You can kind of see Don panic a bit afterwards once that question is asked. There are other moments during the interview where Don does really try to push the angle that this is good for gamers. He says the Xbox One is a console “for gamers by gamers,” and that people will come to appreciate the online connectivity.
I kind of feel sorry for Don because he didn’t have much wiggle room. He couldn’t exactly promote the PS4 and he has to get as much positive PR for the One as possible but his job has been made difficult by having the authentication feature while Sony came out and said they wouldn’t have it. Where Microsoft goes from here, and how the company responds to the negative reception, is anybody’s guess.

I can’t believe this man ” just get a 360″. You wouldn’t mind so much if it hadn’t been neglected so much on 1st party front. It’s had a few games last year but year before was practically no 1st party games. Then to think people will want One with out any real 1st party dev going on for so long on 360. Ps3 had had lots in the same space of time (not all good though). So that should tell you who has more priority to make games but just make good ones Sony. (I do love most of the stuff Sony makes)

and it takes also 2 months (if I’m correct, if not I don’t remember exact how long it took), Nobody that owns a Xbone will be able to play a game for a 2 months.
What would MS do about sth. like that?
But no worries then, just go buy an X360!

The problem is particularly frightening because the policies MS are implementing firmly puts them in the firing line of those hacker groups. They will be relentlessly targeted.

In a parallel world, we could have a gaming special episode of Have I Got News For You, with Dara O’ Briain at the helm and Don Mattrick and
I love how, even though he says they love all the passion in the forum feedback, their response is to try to sell their “game box” (or was it “gaming box”) even harder – rather than listen and then give their customers what they are asking actually asking for.
And i don’t think xbox fans are especially concerned about the device being always-connected, it’s more the fact that the games have to be authenticated daily that is the sticking point. Remove that and all related DRM and Microsoft are back in the game.
But they’re not listening.

Yup, only available on 21 countries this November. A lot of my friends with 360 are saying they are going to jump ship (I’m in Portugal).

Unfortunately, that man comes across as a very sleazy salesman. Perhaps he’s just not a natural in this environment, but the hello and thanks/goodbye at either end of the interview were just AWFUL!!
