Microsoft have been discussing the new Xbox One on Bloomberg TV and have defended the higher price of the console when compared to the PlayStation 4.
The Xbox One will cost £429, the PS4 will cost £349.
“It’s a lower number than some of the analysts had forecasted,” said Microsoft’s Xbox boss Don Mattrick. “We’re over-delivering value against other choices I think consumers can get.”
“Any modern product these days you look at it [and] $499 isn’t a ridiculous price point. We’re delivering thousands of dollars of value to people, so I think they’re going to love it when they use it.”
I am not quite sure how Xbox One ‘over-delivers’ when compared the to PlayStation 4 especially when you consider that it has slower memory and more restrictive DRM.
Perhaps he is referring to the fancy wave-at-your-telly stuff.
Don concluded, Â “We’re really making the living room your center of fun for your family.”

I actually feel sorry for peoples pets…
– A family gathers round to watch a film
– Mr Jones starts speaking to the Xbox Juan then starts flapping his arms around to start the movie
– Dog thinks he’s playing
– Dog starts barking and running round the room
– Family can’t watch or hear film
– Dog gets kicked and booted out the lounge
I can feel a new NSPCA advert coming on!

This cracked me up….I can see my dog now…..he will have sooo much fun playing with his XBone. Kinect does look like a dogs toy….

I think it’s time we started a Sweepstake… How long do we think before Don looses his job…
Starman
Does this “family sat round all together watching tv every night” actually happen anywhere but inside Xbox chiefs heads?!
Fruitbat1919
If we liked watching anything the kids liked….they would immediately stop watching and decide it was boring…luckily for them, we dont like soaps and chav tv!!
wirralsman
Why would they “over deliver”? That doesn’t make much business sense…

I’m just glad Sony learned their lesson last time. I’m not hating on MS….I want them ti fix up for their fans not themselves but this display of disgusting PR has to stop. If they too a minute to pull their head from their own ass they will see that the whole world is laughing at them.
I have die-hard 360 fans telling me that they are buying ps4 first and will debate on x1 later if at all. I owned a 360 for about 2 months and hardly used it. X1 is turning into a £429 doorstop. If it keeps going this way it will sit right next to the dreamcast in the dead console section. As a matter of fact….the dreamcast would still be above it.

My brother and his groovy gang of mates are all die-hard 360 fans too, but they’re all going for the PS4 and not the Xbox Juan.
I was also talking to another one of my mates who’s teenage son and his school friends all have 360s but they’re also all going to get the PS4. This also seems to be the case with everyone else I speak to as well. In fact, apart from a few people on this site I don’t actually know anyone who is going to buy one.
Surely Microsoft must be worried about Juan.

All these Ex Xboxers flooding our beloved network with there Teabagging tactics an your momma quips and abuse and abusive Anti Brit nature, Where doomed doomed i tell ya! ;D

That has actually crossed my mind. It’d be great if matchmaking could go on skill & age. Then if I pretend I’m about 5 years old I might actually get more kills than deaths in BF3 for a change.
Wardy-77-
Yeah my short experience of Xbox live and with 360 kinda put me off all it was was people abusing each other lol, i’ve only come across the odd idiot on PSN all these years touch wood ;D
Wardy-77-
Also dave you should think about putting your name down for the Battlefield 3 meet on friday, we dont care if you pretend to be a 5 yr old either lol,and its a rarity that my kills exceed my deaths but its all good fun. ;)

I may look into that at some point soon but at the moment my Fridays normally end up with me leaving work at 5pm then not returning home til about 2am under the influence of a large amount of alcohol to blank out any memory of the work filled week ’til Monday re-appears. For some reason my K/D ratio was about 7/1 I think on BFBC2 but on BF3 its more like 1/7.

To be fair 429 pounds is pushing it as far as the physical tech is concerned. But the cloud does compensate for the cost imo.
However if Sony do the same thing, then hands down. Sony have already provided value for money in hardware.
pitbullmern
The tech in the ps4 is higher spec than in xboxone and is still cheaper and please dont fall their PR bull about the cloud, it is not going to make huge calculations on the fly that is going to make the experience any better, it just PR talk as to why they want you to have a constant internet connection. A game will not run any differently if its connected to the cloud than if it isnt connected to the cloud.
pdannysan13
true. in fact Sony promised us more with Gaikai when it comes to cloud-computing, than Microsoft. they promised Remote Play and even backwards compatibility.
phantom5813
What they still havent explained is why…….why does it need to always be connected? Why do they need to check what games I have every 24 hrs? Why cant I trade or lend or borrow? Why does it need kinect to do WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO DO FROM THE BEGINNING? why cant I buy 2nd hand games? A car salesman cant tell a customer that he has to buy a spare tire, tool kit and a year of insurance for the car to start.

I wish MS would just shut up. They’re trying to defend their ballsup, and it’s just not working because of what Sony has done with the PS4. The more they try to defend it, the more people talk about its weaknesses.
cam the man
They would be better to say nothing, and while letting all the negative talk die down, re-group and come up with a good as possible solution. And admit to their hardcore gamers they got it wrong. It’s all the arrogance they’ve come out with that people don’t like.
Fruitbat1919
Yep not bad value, but they do forget that many of the audience they want to attract will not pay out large sums of money for tech. The Wii was sooo cheap compared and I believe that if it was much higher, it would not have sold to the mums and casual players…I may be wrong.
I think future generations of consoles will need to be sold like mobile phones to be able to be in the same market numbers Microsoft are after.
Broonba
I’m just glad that I’ve stuck with Sony since day one of the PS One days.

Not forgetting the dark side too.
