Warrior’s Lair (Ruin) Has Been Cancelled

Innovative action-RPG Ruin, later re-titled to Warrior’s Lair, has been cancelled. Nothing’s been seen or heard of the game since I played it two years ago, and it appears that Idol Minds – apparently taken off the project in 2012 – didn’t get to complete all that much.

It was, post Idol Minds, in the hands of Sony San Diego.

Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that Warrior’s Lair for PS Vita is no longer in development,” a Sony representative told IGN.

“We apologize to those who pre-ordered the title and ask that they contact their retailer directly to cancel their pre-sale.”

“The line-up of PS Vita first-party and third-party content remains strong with more than 85 titles scheduled to launch for the system by the end of 2013 including Killzone: Mercenary, Tearaway, Doki Doki Universe, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, Flower, The Walking Dead, and more,” says an official statement.

The game was due for PS Vita and PS3.

  1. Expected this a long time ago, but then some rumors before E3 gave me new hope for this. I really looked forward to it.

  2. Crap, I was really looking forward to this. It was one of the reasons I wanted a Vita.

  3. if it’s PS3 and Vita, why only mention Vita when saying it’s cancelled?

is it still coming for PS3?
or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

    • If it was not cancelled for ps3 it would certainly have been mentioned as “but it is still coming to ps3”.

  4. Bollocks, was really looking forward to this one.

  5. Well that’s a pity.

  6. Seems strange to develop for so long and then no release anything. Surely they could have taken what they had and turn it into a smaller PSN title without the PS3/Vita connectivity or even a mini.

At least it would have brought some cash back in. Could have just repackaged it under another name. Wasn’t a game that interested me but a lot of others would have given it a go for a knock down price

  7. Damnation! I so crave a dungeon crawler on the Vita that isn’t by Gameloft.

  8. Quite disappointing really. It looked fairly interesting.

  9. Bummer.

  10. I don’t know too much about Idol Minds, but I’m not sure that they really know how to make a good game. All they’ve done since 2007 (Pain) is remake the Ratchet and Clank games in HD.
