PS2 Soul Calibur 2 Being Re-Released For PS3 And 360 With Online Play

The PlayStation 2 version of NAMCO’s Soul Calibur 2 will be re-released later in the year for current-gen platforms PS3 and Xbox 360. It’ll feature the PS2 exclusive character Heihachi Mishima (from Tekken), instead of Link (from the GameCube version) or Spawn (from the Xbox version).

The trailer shows the improvements made to the visuals since the SD version, which don’t look like they’ll make a huge difference (the series was always really pretty, especially the Dreamcast version of the first Soul Calibur). It’ll also have online play.

Look out for it in the Autumn.

  1. SC2 is my favourite of the series – its still so fluid and responsive. SC5 is just behind it.

  2. I don’t recall which Soul Calibur it was, but i remember it being one of the first games i played on the PS2. So much fun.

  3. Shame there is no Link as he was a great character, although the chances of Nintendo loaning him out for this are small! Hopefully the single player is intact as well, this was my favourite Soul Caliber game.

  4. was it Soul Calibur 3 where they first introduced the character creation mode?

    or was it this one?

i remember losing a few joypads to that one, whichever one it was. o_O

  5. Soul Calibur 2 is perhaps one of the few fighting games I’ve played with friends at parties and actually enjoyed. Been a while since I’ve touched anything SC but this should be worth a look.

  6. Same here. I’ve not played a Soul Calibur since the Dreamcast one.
