Daishi Odama, designer of both Soul Calibur IV and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, yesterday announced that a new SC title is in the works via Twitter. Described as a hardcore player of the weapon-based beat ’em up, Namco Bandai producer Katsuhiro Harada has faith that Odama will mould the next instalment in the eyes of Soul Calibur’s loyal fanbase.
Details are sparse, though it appears as if Harada is holding back, perhaps waiting for a grand unveiling:
I can’t say anything abt the platform or release date yet. The only thing I can say is that the SC project has bn officially put in2 motion.
With Namco also working on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (or TTTT) it’s safe to assume that we won’t be seeing the new Soul Calibur project until after Summer 2011.

I love Soul Calibur games, I think I actually prefer them to Tekken (I am actually pretty good at SC). I really think a new, refined sequel could really get the breast of the competition.

I hope it’s a true sequel and not just titular.

Are those on purpose? You know, the ‘bn’ and the ‘in2’.

It was via Twitter, so he was probably trying to shorten the word count.

A rebranding would be good, Soul Blade to Soul Calibur to Soul…… Train ? Soul Man ? Soul but I’m not a soldier ?

I loved the GC game, but found the new one really dull. They need a more interesting single player.

Never really found the appeal in games like soul calibur and Tekken. Or maybe its just cos I’m unbelivably crappy.

Booooooob Physics are their main focus in new SC…
