FIFA 14 Free With One Pre-Orders, Xbox Exclusive Content Detailed

Yesterday we reported that FIFA 14 may be available for free if you pre-order the Xbox One in Europe. This has since been confirmed, and not only will players get the game for free, they can also indulge in some exclusive Xbox content for FIFA Ultimate Team.

This, as I’m sure you’ll all agree, is a fantastic move from Microsoft. One that will no doubt boost the console’s sales in the European market.

Ultimate Team Legends is a new mode for FUT and is coming exclusively to Xbox One and 360. As the name suggests legends of the sport will be available to buy and play for your Ultimate Team including ex-Arsenal stars such as Bergkamp and Llungberg.

  1. I did just put something about this in the other article but I’ll repost and expand on it here as it’s more relevant

The FIFA throw in was pointless as well. It’s good for those who preordered but as an incentive for anyone else it’s a bit late in the day. Plus it’s still cheaper to get a PS4 with FIFA anyway. Would this tempt anyone here to go with Xbox One? The exclusive deal looks throw away as well. Bringing in some classic players in nice but it’s not a deal breaker.

The whole thing wreaks of desperation from MS to try and nail some sales in Europe but I can’t see this changing anything.

  2. Great play by Microsoft. We always talk about people who exclusively buy FIFA/CoD on a yearly basis and this may have sealed the deal for them.

    • Precisely this, I mentioned in the other story I believe this to be bait to pull in those that will only buy one console per generation for FIFA et al.

      • Would they really wait 2 months to play Fifa on the XBO or just buy it when it comes out on their current console?

  3. Desperate times desperate measures?

    • If they keep throwing in free stuff, the more desperate the better!

  4. Still cheaper to buy a PS4 and a Fifa 14 copy so I don’t think this deal will change much.

  5. Great addition and helps offset the price difference to people considering ps4.
I feel its worth pointing out to everyone saying a ps4 would still be cheaper with fifa, remember the ps3 launched a year after 360 and was more expensive, but it still sold ok.

  6. It’s free. How can this not be a good deal? Any mention of whether it’s a boxed copy or download only?

Don’t particularly see the point in letting “legends” be included in the game. Thought the point of buying the ’14 version of the game was to get the correct players in the team.

    • It’s a download version

    • The game might be free but, as it says above, “legends of the sport will be available to buy”, so the MS exclusive will have to be bought.

  7. It’s still going to have been out for current-gen for at least 6 weeks – are massive FIFA fans really going to wait til the Xbox One comes out?

  8. Fantastic move from Microsoft? Time will tell.

Most hardcore gamers don’t care for FIFA.

  9. If people had a brain, they will see you can buy a PS4 and Fifa game for more than £50 cheaper.

FIFA and COD are so boring, if it was something other than those it might be interesting.

Again, Microsoft throwing money at stuff hoping it will get back their customers they lost. It could work still.

    • Many people have been put off Sony due to past issues. Myself being one of them.

    • If they had a brain they’d realise they can buy FIFA 14 6 weeks earlier and on a console they already own.

      • So by that logic nobody should buy a new console because they can get fifa on ps3/xbox360? And if they do they haven’t got a brain?!!

  10. Wasn’t it already known the x1 was getting exclusive dlc from EA on FIFA & Madden?? If it is a download only offer too, then I don’t think it will have a big an impact as they hope! People still want their disc baby!!
