Vita Memory Card Bundles And Price Reduction Announed

Alongside officially announcing the Vita’s price cut, Sony have taken to the Gamescom stage and announced there will be 3 new memory card “mega packs” available soon – retailing at 35Euros – which bundle an 8gb memory card with download codes for between 6 and 10 themed games.

One thing which should bring a smile to everyone’s face, especially those of us who like to choose our games ad-hoc however, was the mention of “significant reductions” in the price of memory cards for the Vita.

Expect more news on the Vita, and indeed the entire PlayStation family, as Gamescom continues.

  1. Glad to see a price cut. A part from at launch I haven’t bought another one. The cards have stayed at a high price for a lot longer than I thought.

    • Me too, not bought one except the 8GB one that came with it. Glad now!

  2. I nearly bought a Vita when there was a small drop at Amazon, shortly after it was released. Added everything to my basket, then discovered a 32GB memory card was nearly £60. Instantly cancelled it all, so it’s good to see Sony finally recognise what they need to do to get Vita selling.

    • Jeez, £60 shortly after release for a 32 gigger. They’ve “Significantly” increased in price since then, apart from occasional sale offers!

*Significant* being the in word of the moment :P

  3. “Significant reductions” range from just $5 to $20 in the US.

imo there’s still plenty more they could have done, especially at this delicate stage in the handheld’s life where growing userbase, rather than making a quick buck is key.

  4. I could do with a nice fat 32gb card or bigger as my 16gb one is fit to burst.

    • I could do with a 64gb or 128gb as having Ps+ 32gb is not big enough.

      • Yeah 64gb and 128gb would be nice but there probably closer to the price of the vita itself :D
