Killzone Mercenary Is A 3.3GB Digital Download

Looking as though it will finally be the FPS Sony’s handheld system deserves, Guerilla Games’ Killzone Mercenary has certainly been receiving some praise ahead of its release this Friday.

The ongoing Beta and hands-on previews have all ensured there’s no shortage of hype surrounding the title either, and because of that, pre-order numbers are stacking up faster than the body-count over on Helghan. Killzone Mercenary is, in fact, my very first Vita pre-order.

There’s a pretty good deal currently on at Amazon, offering a physical copy of the game for a penny under £25, and there’s an affordable bundle on offer at GAME too, for those new to the handheld. Of course, lots of people prefer their portable games digitally – as to avoid having to swap fiddly game carts on the go – and luckily, as with most big titles nowadays, Sony’s PSN store has you covered, £29.99.

If you are thinking of buying Killzone Mercenary digitally though, you’ll be pleased with the recently announced memory card price cuts – as the game is huge.

Those who’ve pre-ordered and pre-loaded the title already will find a 3.3GB download for the title waiting to unlock, and with the Vita’s firmware and future game patches all requiring space of their own, it’s safe to say that at least an 8GB memory card is required for Killzone Mercenary.

With the Vita hitting its stride, and the movement into next-gen hopefully meaning we’ll see more titles like Killzone on the horizon, isn’t it about time Sony phased out the 4GB card altogether? Or introduced a reasonably priced 64GB option?

Our review of the game will be live tomorrow, ahead of Mercenary’s release this Friday.

  1. Don’t see as a 4GB will be redundant for just keeping the one game.

But this is the reason I’ll be buying a hard copy instead. Unfortunately the Amazon price has shifted up a few pounds too.

  2. I’m desperate for Friday to come so I can play this! So excited for it! :D

  3. I actually think this is good news, it means the game won’t be full of horribly compressed textures and audio clips. And to be fair those of us who do prefer digital ownership will have ditched the titchy 4GB cards long ago :) I’m warming to the idea of getting a Vita again and when I do I’ll be sticking with the physical games. I guess I like the frustration waiting for the postman to show up with my stuff and the inevitable crushing disappointment when he does a day late, the day after you took leave to play the latest GTA. Are you listening Royal Mail??

  4. The Vita’s firmware doesn’t use up memory card space, FWIW.

  5. I pre ordered but didn’t see an option to preload, am I missing something/doing something wrong ?

can I just download the full thing on release day instead even if i’ve already pre ordered?

on side note diablo 3 is excellent on ps3

  6. still undecided on physical or digital, either way, i’ll be picking it up soon

  7. I have been loving the Beta, and this is also my first vita pre-order having owned the console since launch. It should be a system seller.

Im glad i ordered a physical copy though, i am already moving games on and off my 32 gig card thanks to the greatness that is PS+

  8. quick heads up for anyone wanting a 32gb card, I’ve just ordered one off Amazon for £39.99

Be carefull though as they are still advertising some at the higher price, I had to click on the link to other options for ‘new’ (as opposed to second hand) to get it

It’s pretty dodgy by Amazon as they’re basica;lly advertising the same card at 2 different price points, one of which being a lot more expensive

    • No they’re not. They’re pushing the third party seller (RAREWAVES) as they have them in stock, Amazon don’t. That’s the way Amazon works.

      • Not the case for my order, it was specifically shown as being direct through Amazon, no 3rd party involved. I made sure of that as didn’t want to go through a private seller

      • soz think I misunderstood you, they’re just pushing the third part sellers over their own then it seems. As for having no stock that explains the two weeks it’s gonna take them to deliver it

  9. Looking forward to this. I imagine there will be some prosperous TSA meets :D

  10. Is Tuff doing the review, I know he loves Killzone very much so if he says it’s bad then it’s bad if he says it’s good it’s good

    • Blair’s reviewed this one, will be up tomorrow AM.
