FIFA 14’s “Legacy Editions” – that’s the handheld, PS2 and Wii editions of the game – will add new kits and team rosters, but very little else over the 2013 and 2012 releases. This revelation comes from a Nintendo press release, regarding the 3DS version of the title.
These versions of FIFA 14, whilst still launching at full price, will deliver “unmatched authenticity that reflects the current football season with updated kits and rosters but no updates to gameplay or game modes.”
That’s a whopping £39.99 for a game which is at best two iterations old, and missing not only the latest updates, but also core modes such as Ultimate Team, which are found in its console counterparts. Ouch.
FIFA 14 is released for all current generation – and the newly named Legacy formats – this Friday, September 27, with PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game available alongside their respective console launches in November.

Still made for PS2? Wow!

Poor, very poor.

I have never felt more ripped off than when I bought fifa 13 vita for £45 from game on release day only to find out it is exactly the same as the fifa football. What made it even worse was the fact that the ps3 version was cheaper. They will not be getting a penny from me this year. It is wrong on so many levels.
Starman
And EA wonder why they get a bad rep.
arrybags
At least they are telling people this year. Which is an improvement on last year!

:(
I don’t like it, but I’m still going to probably get it on Vita- handheld FIFA is still a good game (if getting old) and I want the 2+GB of my precious memory card space back.
One thing though- Ultimate Team is not a core mode, that’s career mode.
samiro05
Ultimate Team is a core mode. It may not have been in there from FIFA 98 but it has been born into the modern FIFA and is by far a massive part of its popularity and replayability.
DigitalSuperman
They should not be selling the same game for full price. If I bought it this year that means EA would have sold me the same game 3 times and got over £130. As much as I like the game, they are not getting my money out of principle.
leeroye
And people will still buy it thats why they keep doing it. Fifa 15 will be no different for handhelds i bet.
Erroneus
DO NOT BUY THEM! If you want Fifa for your Vita, get the old versions used or cheap. Don’t give EA money for this practice.
Legacy edition…. F u EA.

I noticed that current gen (PS3 and xbox360) are missing from the above notice. Is there clarification on the current gen systems available?
tonycawley
Yes. Ps3 and 360 are fully updated versions with gameplay changes etc. They will be the same as the next gen games though except for graphics etc.
Amphlett
Tar muchly young Sir.
