PS4 Games To Have £60 Suggested Retail Price

The SRP of certain PS4 games – including DriveClub and Killzone: Shadow Fall – will be £59.99, though Knack will be slightly cheaper at £54.99.

It’s no surprise that the retail price point will be a bit higher than the current generation (FIFA 14 on PS3, for example, has an RRP of £54.99), though what is surprising is that Sony aren’t selling first-party exclusives for a bit less. It truly seems that Sony will be looking to make their money from the games rather than the hardware, as they previously stated.

It’s not a massive deal, as although retailers such as GAME will sell the games for at least £55 at launch, the prices will certainly realign with the current £40-45 set by retailers for PS3 games in the future.

It’s something that happens with every console generation – even the Wii U’s games were around this mark at launch – but don’t expect to be getting your PS4 games as cheap as their PS3 counterparts just yet.

This makes the Call of Duty and Battlefield 4 £10 upgrades seem all the more tantalising, as you’ll actually be saving money as well as getting the game on two platforms.

Sony also re-confirmed the £54.99 price point of the DualShock 4 and PS4 Camera, as well as pricing the stand and charging unit at £15.99 and £24.99 respectively.

So, it seems as though that Killzone mega bundle that they’ve just announced could actually offer savings of around £100, rather than £70-80.

Thanks, STN

  1. Steam is probably going to see more use over the best year then! Those Steam machines are also starting to look much more appealing. There’s no way I’m paying that much for a game. New Splinter Cell cost £45 at launch which put me off one of my favourite game franchises. Still haven’t bought it.

    • Next* the auto correct on this site is reaaaaally weird and “corrects” words that are correct to something totally different.

  2. Mixed feelings
The accountant in me understands why they’ve done this
The cynic in me says if you can’t afford a fiver extra maybe you should choose a cheaper hobby
The consumer in me says this is crap, especially after MS’s game price announcement.

    Hmmm …

  3. You’d think with the PS4 being so much quicker and easier to develop for than PS3, and much more in line with PC, that the games could actually come down in price by about a fiver.

Yeah, I know… that’s not how the world works, but still.
