Resident Evil 7 Outed, Appears To Have Been In Development Alongside Resi 6

Resident Evil 6 was a bit of a mixed bag, and the general consensus was that Capcom needed to give the series a break for a little while and really nail down the formula, taking the series back to where it was with Resident Evil 4 before moving onto a seventh instalment.

However, a user on NeoGAF has found, from looking at a LinkedIn profile of someone who worked at House of Moves – a motion capture and animation studio – as a Costume Designer that motion capture went ahead for the title in November 2012. House of Moves had previously done motion capture, facial animation and secondary animation for Gears of War.

Does that suggest a more action-orientated focus for Resident Evil 7? Not necessarily, as that’s up to the developers at the end of the day, though work on the title seems to have began before Resident Evil 6 was out of the door, and there would have definitely been some overlap if they were at the motion capture stage by November 2012.

So, that means they won’t have had the time to rethink and get the formula right, but we’ll hopefully find out soon what the – presumably next generation – Resident Evil title will look like.

Until then, we have The Evil Within.

  1. Many will disagree with me but the more Resident Evil the better :)

  2. Honestly have not enjoyed any of them since Nemesis. Deffo needs a reboot. Need to slow the pace and make it about the scares again

  3. It would have been a pile of shit if they had continued to develop it at the same time as Resi 6 as 6 was just a mess as a result of it trying to pander to 3 crowds. The old school Resi fans, the Call of Battlehonour with zombies crowd and whatever they were trying to do with Jake’s thingy. Hopefully, they will take a long hard look at other horror games that does horror well and try to make Resident Evil scary again.
