Frictional Games introduced SOMA to the world a couple of weeks back with a rather strange video, which showed an engineer tinkering with a machine whose activation caused panic. Frictional remained in a teasing mood by releasing another cryptic video soon after.
The developer has now decided to spill the beans on what SOMA is, and confirming that the game will be releasing on the PS4. The game is a first person sci-fi horror title following similar styles to Amnesia, where you are an almost helpless individual.
The main themes of SOMA according to Thomas Grip, creative director of Frictional Games, look to explore the nature of consciousness and whether it can be experienced by machines. The desire is to make you think and “chill you to your core.”
There will be a bit of a wait before SOMA releases as it won’t be out until 2015.
