Ubisoft’s The Crew Also Delayed

Not a great day for Ubisoft fans, first Watch Dogs gets delayed until next Spring and now news reaches us that The Crew has also been delayed.

The game was originally scheduled for release “early next year” but has now been moved back to the fiscal year 2014-15 so the very earliest the game will arrive is April 2014, quite probably later.

No reason has been given for the delay but it does seem to be partly financial, it will allow the install base of PlayStation 4s and Xbox Ones to grow and more consoles mean more sales for Ubisoft.

“Fueled by strong momentum for PlayStation 4 and XboxOne, calendar 2014 will see the return of growth to the console market. Combined with the quality of our line-up and our strong financial situation, this growth will allow us to achieve record operating income in fiscal 2014-15 and 2015-16”

We sent Teffers to talk to Serkan Hassan, the Lead Game Designer on The Crew and you can read all about it here.

At least Assassin’s Creed IV is releasing three days early, every cloud and all that.

  1. Looks to me like the delay is all about how much money they can make. The later in 2014 they release the more consoles will have been bought meaning more money in the piggy bank. Sounds more like EA’s M.O.

  2. Ah crap! Guess Easter just opened up for watch dogs again…

  3. One of my top three anticipated next-gen titles this, damn!

  4. It never rains…. I hope they don’t delay The Division.

  5. At least we won’t have a post launch lull.

  6. I’ll get need for speed and wait for it to come out, looks awesome!
