New Knack Screens And Info

Sony has released some new screens and information for Knack, mankind’s secret weapon against the goblin threat.

They include shots of the Doctor, “a genius but can be moody and impetuous at times,” Viktor, “a billionaire industrialist,” and LucasKnack’s best friend.

There are also screens of the different forms Knack can take including Metal Knack which is tough, powerful and magnetic and Wood Knack which can be set on fire to reveal hidden areas.

  1. These screens look very clean and crisp, I hope the game live up to them.

    • Agreed. They’re some of the best Knack screens I’ve seen. I feel like this game is gathering a quiet, but respectful level of momentum and hope it turns out to be a great title. Especially as it’s still on schedule for the PS4 launch. :-)

      • It’s kinda fun. TBH last time I played it it wasn’t very Next-geny. All the power seems to have been used to animate Knack, the game still has things like enemies that flash then vanish when killed. That really shouldn’t be happening on a PS4.

  2. The 9th screenshot from what looks like a cut scene of a chap speaking with a young lad – I hope this is from an early dev build as things which should be on the floor appear to be floating and have no shadows. Little things like this ruin screenshots.

    • Nothing wrong with a bit of elevated wood. ;-)

  3. It all looks very nice visually speaking but the game mechanics don’t really scream next-gen to me. I’m not dismissing it entirely but i can’t get that excited about it either.

    • When you see all the tiny parts of Knack coming together and falling apart you kind of see why this is next gen. Very impressive. Same king of reaction I got from the first Watch Dogs video with the trees blowing in the wind

      • Ah yes, i know the particle effects are impressive, it’s just the fixed camera angles remind me more of Crash Bandicoot when i would prefer the open world setting of Jak&Daxter is all.

    • I don’t think I’ve seen any game with mechanics that scream ‘next-gen’ yet.

In fact, on PS3 I think only Mirror’s Edge and Little Big Planet did that. The rest seemed like fancier looking, better (well, in some cases anyway) PS2 games.

      • I think i possibly should have said ‘game design’ instead of ‘mechanics’. It’s the linearity combined with the fixed cameras which harken back to the days of Crash Bandicoot for me, and i think it actually looks next gen enough – it’s just in the wrong ‘container’ to really make as big an impact as it could have imo.
Plus, Mark Cerny developed the engine which made Jak&Daxter possible (a landmark game with it’s open-world platforming), so i had hoped for something more along that line.

Btw, my list of ‘next-gen screamers’ on PS3 would include LBP, flow, Flower, Tumble and Heavy Rain.
