Gran Turismo 6 Lets You Drive On The Moon

A new trailer for Gran Turismo 6 has revealed that you will be able to drive the Lunar Roving Vehicle LEV-001 ’71 on the Moon.

The space vehicle is one of 1197 cars that are available to drive, including no less than 53 variations of the Nissan Skyline. We don’t know if you will be able to race around the lunar landscape in other vehicles but the track at the 2m 22s mark does look rather starry.

Talking of celestial bodies, a second trailer from Polyphony Digital has shown off their new Skybox technology which accurately maps the night sky.

Perfect for those moments when you’re tearing around race track and have a sudden urge to locate Cassiopeia.

  1. This will be a game to remember. One of the very few gaming series that i actually pre order

    • I’ve always pre-ordered too, but not this time. I was undecided between this and Drive Club, but even since DC got pushed back, I’m still not sure on this. I’ve always been a big fan, even buying the Prologue games, but I can seem to get interested.

The lack of proper damage modeling has never been an issue for me, but now I’m staying to think it’s about time they put it in. I’d prefer their focus was on things like that, rather than moon buggies and accurate star maps.

  2. Driving on the moon? I think I’d rather be able to drive around Spa without having to pay extra for DLC. Still, if Polyphony are going for a complete collection of every car ever they might as well include one of the most expensive ever. I hope they do Armageddon’s Ardmadillo and the Dark Knight’s Tumbler next.

    • You can, Spa & Motegi are standard tracks this time :)

      • Ah I didn’t know, that’s excellent news, thanks for that dude :)

  3. I’ll be miffed if moon driving is in but the MP is poor again.

    • Yep MP needs sorted. I kept getting lost connection from game but still connected to PSN.

  4. I hope the Lunar vehicle handling isn’t too floaty .. ;)

  5. I wish they’d sticked with native 720p for rendering as the last game did a halfway attempt at full HD, had some performance issues and now they go even higher. The Academy demo this summer didn’t inspire confidence with some framerate issue.

But I’m still more excited for this than any next gen title out this holiday season. Only Mario rival it in my book.

  6. Remember folks, this is the “Real Driving Simulator”…

  7. Not fussed about the moon buggy but I’m hoping Kaz has sorted out the MP as it was pretty ropey in GT5.

  8. Looks great but I feel this has come so late in the ps3 life. Seems this is everything gt5 should have been. I think it’s a bit of a shame that gt6 will be over shadowed by the new generation. I can’t help but think it will only be the scratchers buying this who can’t afford a ps4 or Xbox one
