Earlier this week we reported that Sony were planning a revival of sorts for its Japanese memory-card-come-tamagotchi device, the PocketStation.
For those in the Western world, the PocketStation was a bit like Sega’s Dreamcast VMU back in the days of the PS1 – and although virtual pets and the like have all but been destroyed by more inspired mobile games nowadays, it appears Sony have re-launched their monochromatic micro-games, by way of a PlayStation Vita app.

The app will feature a variety of classic mini-games, with those shown above inspired by Crash Bandicoot, Mega Man, Ape Escape and Final Fantasy. Other PS1 games revealed include IQ Final, Everybody’s Golf, and Spyro. A game whereby you look after Sony’s Japanese mascot Toro the Cat also looks to be joining the service from December 3rd.
Unfortunately, despite being referenced in the latest 3.0 Vita Firmware, there’s no word on PocketStation receiving a Western release. Boo.
