Sony Tease The Return Of PocketStation

Sony have released a rather odd video teasing the return of PocketStation, a Japan only device for the PS One.

The orginal device was a monochromatic hand held console that used PS One memory cards to play small games. It was incredibly popular in Japan and was slated for a release in the west but this never occured.

The video promises a full reveal on 5th November, we doubt it’s going to be new hardware but it could be an app for the Vita or smartphones.

  1. I’d imagine something connected to second screen on phones tablets and Vita, as that’s the same concept.

    Closest I came to using one of these was on FF8 for the PC. They had a game for training your chocobo and having it find items, and on PC they ported it across from the PocketStation so that it ran as a very small windowed application outside of the game.

    • Same here. I actually upgraded my iPhone software to the new My Little Pony looking system as I thought that could’ve been the reason my phone kept spakking out. Now my phone looks like its been attacked by Care Bears!

      • I know i’ve had my internet security warn me a while back of of the site maybe containing harmful things like malware or other such things,I was just watching the video above and as they where following the truck the site dissapeared,and in the address bar it said something about redirect tracking and my security came up saying warning to you wish to keep this on your system as it could be damaging something along those lines very strange.

  5. To clarify, it didn’t “use” memory cards, it WAS a memory card with screen and controls….
