12 Minute Xbox One Dashboard Video, Media Partners Listed

Microsoft have released a twelve minute trailer of the Xbox One dashboard ahead of the consoles launch later this month.

The video, presented by Marc Whitten and Yusuf Mehdi, is a walkthrough of the features for the console including instant switching, biometric sign-in, Live TV, Skype and the game DVR.

Microsoft have also listed their media partners which are:

  • 4oD
  • Amazon\LoveFilm
  • Blinkbox
  • Crackle
  • Demand 5
  • Eurosport
  • Machinima
  • MUZU TV
  • Netflix
  • NOW TV
  • TED
  • Twitch
  • Wuaki.tv

VG247 are reports that these will be “launching alongside Xbox One on November 22”, and yet Netflix, BlinkBox, LoveFilm and NowTV have told us they had no confirmed plans for the device.

It is also Interesting that ITV and BBC, which are the two biggest channels in the U.K., are missing.

Someone is giving out the wrong message, a common occurance today.

UPDATE: It appears like our information is correct

  1. A media partner does not imply launch partner

  2. A media partner does not imply launch partner

  3. I must admit that I was slightly impressed with some of the features but to hell with game invites while you’re watching the football……or porn even :p

  4. It looks pretty smooth but a little too much going on for my taste.
It’s also very convenient that one of their biggest media partners (NFL) is broadcasting on TV while they do the demo. I just skipped through the last third so I might have missed a part where they mention this but if not then there’s still the possibility that some aspects of the demo were staged.
Funny that they didn’t show their beloved snap feature. I guess the rumors about it causing crashes aren’t total bogus after all?

  5. I haven’t got time to watch the whole of this, but whats happened to menu lists etc? Whats with all the square boxes used to navigate etc? I wanna see a direct path/route as to where I need to go. Looks like the PS4 is similar to this in a way too. I must be getting old fashioned. I wouldn’t even try to navigate through one of those Window phones. Looks like they’re aimed at teenage girls if you ask me :)

    • I know what you mean, the XMB style is so simple and light that these busy menus can seem off putting. I don’t even like the Vitas bubbles, hopefully these news menus get more customisable as the years go by so us boring old bastards can have our stark simple home screens. The video was impressive though, it’ll be great to see the next generation in person.

      • Yep. I had a go on my brothers Vita and got lost in the menu’s and couldn’t figure out whether I had quit the game I was playing or not… This is not good when you consider I design websites for a living lol

  6. I guess iPlayer won’t come to the Xbone for the same reason as it was for the 360 for so long.
