PSN Trophies Now Have A Rarity Level On PS4

Is the PS3’s Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum not enough of a rating system for you? Want more out of your trophies, and want to aim for something unique? Well, Sony have you sorted with their new system for the PS4.

You see, trophies on the PS4 now have a “rarity metric” according to Engadget, which shows how many people worldwide have earned each individual trophy.

It will be really great to see what the rarest trophies are, and which are the easiest or most widespread, while also offering an idea of how many people have played or completed each game.

In other news from the same article, USB powering now works while the console is switched off, the PS Store is much more organised and even features a PS3 to PS4 section, the Play as Guest feature deletes all of your info from your friends PS4 after you quit, you can have multiple party chat rooms at the same time and, finally, double tapping the PS button on the DualShock 4 will take you back to your last used app.

These are all awesome little features, and I can’t wait to see what other cool things the PS4 can do that we don’t know about yet.

  1. This may have a downside, albeit a small one. Picture this….You’re sat at home trying to get a certain trophy and after 2 weeks of trying, ‘ding’ the trophy pops amidst a shout of “got the bastard”. 2 minutes later your bubble is well and trully burst as you find out that the trophy you’ve been slaving away to get is one of the most common trophies around. I think the next words out your mouth would possibly rhyme with ‘Clucking Bell’.

  2. Nice idea. I’ve fallen out of trophy hunting. Ps+ has just given me so many games I want to play. My daughter has taken away any hours to play them. Gaming is such a luxury I don’t have the time to dedicate to just one game anymore.
