Polyphony Digital’s PlayStation 3 exclusive racing sim Gran Turismo 6 will have in-game purchases, or micro-transactions, it has been confirmed.
A new post on the PlayStation Blog has confirmed the news, which was hinted at a while back, when retailers announced the Special Edition of GT6 would include “additional Credits”.
Sony have said the in-game currency will be available in 500K, 1 million, 2.5 million or 7 million point denominations, although the real-world prices for each package are yet to be announced.
At first glance – assuming they’re priced competitively – these bundles don’t seem like a game-breaker. For reference, a Ford GT will cost you just shy of 150,000 credits in the new game, whilst that same amount would net you three Corvette Stingray C7’s, or five Toyota 86 GTs at 30k each.
Gran Turismo 6 is set to race on to PlayStation 3 this coming December 6th.

Back in ye olden days you had cheats that gave you money.
I blame trophies for the decline of cheats. The last game I played that had cheats was Red Faction Guerilla and once you enabled a cheat you were unable to get trophies (for obvious reasons) and the game no longer saved.
Without trophies or achievements you could cheat as much as you want and get all the cool stuff in the single player campaign. Now you have to pay money on top of the price for the game for these kind of things… It’s getting very annoying…
I’d happily trade trophies and microtransactions for fun single player cheats.
