Fumito Ueda, creator of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, has apologised for the delays on his next project, The Last Guardian.
“More than anything I feel terribly sorry that for various reasons I have kept my audience waiting for such a long time,” he told Edge.
“In the case of The Last Guardian, my creative work was mostly finished a long time ago, but the details of when, where and how it will be completed are beyond my control,” he added.
It sounds like his split from Sony (where he now works in a freelance capacity) was a little fraught. “I can’t go into the details just yet,” he admitted. “It will be good to be able to discuss it along with a post-mortem of The Last Guardian someday.”
PlayStation fans have been waiting for news on the title since a job listing hinted of the game’s existence back in January 2008. The last official news on the title came from Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida who said a smaller team was focused on “re-engineering” the game and they were waiting for the right time to “re-introduce” the title.

We’re all sorry. But it’s high time for a new trailer with a rough release window and a PS4 logo at the end. This game of shadows has gone on long enough.

Talk of a post-mortem seems premature at this point and it will be interesting to find out why it was delayed so long but let’s get the game out there first.

I hope this does come to PS4.

Can’t see it ever being released at this rate. The Lost Guardian is more appropriate.

Sorry is a strange choice of words. No games releases since the PS2 warrant a different word – irrelevant. I don’t care about this game any more.

I’ve lost interest in this title as well

As this guy is no longer involved in the project it shouldn’t be him apologising.Someone else must take responsibility for the delay, chopping off their little finger would suffice.
