So, there you have it, straight from the PlayStation Store. Some of those prices are quite steep, with the sports games at £62.99, so is it really worth attempting to go all digital this generation? Probably not, unless plastic boxes become extremely expensive to produce, driving boxed game prices higher.

  1. If sony want playstation to become a service rather than a console in future then they seriously need to sort out their digital pricing model or they will crash and burn. The truth is that boxed games seem more expensive this gen, despite what sony claim, and I am considering not getting a PS4 at all. I am going to wait until at least end of 2014/2015 and see how the situation develops.

  2. The pricing is obviously based around the 2 console game activation allotment, which is fair enough if people do actually buy the games and share the cost with another console user.
I personally think that there should be a 3 console game activation entitlement simply because some people own 2 consoles and want to duplicate their games library on each, which would leave one game activation for a friend to share and spread the cost.
Worst case scenario with the 3 activations would be people sharing a single digital game with two other friends, and therefore a half sale loss.
All that aside these digital game pricings are not based around the single user which in essence could be seen as a reasonable cost!

    • This is a really good point. They should give out separate prices for this though, as i dont share my account so i wont ever activate it twice.

    • I guess that they cater for the single user by way of retail disc version!

In fact the more I think about that 3 activations thing I mentioned, the more balanced it seems, allow me to elaborate :P

Digital game at a cost of £60 shared between 3 consoles costing a shared outlay of £20 each.

Retail game at a cost of around £40….game completed then traded for £20 on a decent day.

      Twenty quid all round!

  3. …why are the sports titles always so pricey?

    • because they’re ea games.

seriously, look at all the games that are over sixty quid, all ea.

not even Activision with COD have pushed through the £60 mark.

  4. Well that’s my mind up. I’m off shopto to buy discs

  5. £62.99 what ye fook, dream on Sony..unless the decimal point is in the wong place £6.29…yea that’s more like it..

    • i dunno, that’s probably still more than i’d consider paying for Fifa. ^_^

  6. Its to put people off buying digitally so the servers don’t take a hammering.

  7. anyone hear when War Thunder is being released?

  8. Why do the uk always get shit on when it comes to digital content!

  9. Angry birds, thats’ 1.5GB that won’t be touching my Hard Drive!

  10. GAMES are all on the uk psn website now and the EA games are cheaper at £59.99 I know its only £3 but every little bit helps.

I just bought my upgrade titles COD:GHOST’S,BATTLE FIELD 4,ASSASSINS CREED Black Flag which came with loads of free DLC.

    I cannot wait until Friday
