Confirmed: Activision Have Not Sold Crash Bandicoot To Sony

It began with a street sign and was quickly followed by the removal of any reference to Crash Bandicoot from Activision’s website and a listing on Amazon France.  The hive mind of the internet decided only this could mean only one thing, Crash had been sold back to Sony and was coming to PS4!

Sadly this is not the case and Activision has issued a statement to GameInformer, “Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life.”

Sony’s Adam Boyes has also confirmed that Activision own the I.P.

As beloved as Crash is there was always one character standing in the way of his return, namely that of the new PlayStation 4 star, Knack, created by Mark Cerny. Cerny has always said that Knack was meant to be the Crash Bandicoot of PS4 so it would be rather odd if Sony spent a small fortune creating a new character and purchased the character he was meant to resemble.

As for a new Crash Bandicoot game, although the rumours amounted to nothing, the headlines on gaming sites across the globe will have shown Activision that the character continues to be hugely popular.

  1. Time for activision to use another good franchise and turn it into a cash cow.

  2. I would really love another Crash game……….Just not from Activision……

  3. I find this odd. There are so many rumours and hints about Crash coming back, I find it hard to believe this franchise wont be back on PS4 at some point.
