NBA LIVE 14Â is EA’s attempt to return to the basketball game arena, a place dominated by the NBA 2K series from 2K Sports. This is EA’s first basketball game release since NBA LIVE 10, though there was supposed to be a game called NBA Elite 11 which was cancelled due to development issues.
It appears such development woes didn’t quite disappear while NBA LIVE 14 was created, as fans of the series have been contacting EA about a number of problems with the game, which has led to to a sort of public apology by Executive Producer Sean O’Brien.
“I’m not going to lie; it’s been a rough week. As you can imagine, this isn’t exactly the NBA LIVE comeback story we were hoping for this year. We hear loud and clear that some of you are disappointed in various aspects of NBA LIVE 14, and I’m sorry if the game doesn’t live up to your expectations. Looking at your feedback, we have laid out a plan to makeNBA LIVE 14 a better game as quickly as we can.”
In the blog post Sean goes on to say that there will be a number of fixes made to improve gameplay, including making it easier to understand the controls of the game through live streams on Twitch and patches. There are also some instructional blog posts on the NBA LIVE site.
The game’s graphics have also been heavily criticized, which took a backseat to other development areas. As a result of the outcry EA are developing patches and updates to make the gameplay graphics and animations better too.
In light of all these complaints you can’t help but wonder if NBA LIVE 14 was rushed to meet the launches of the PS4 and Xbox One in an attempt to beat NBA 2K14. Though it is good that EA have acknowledged and are fixing the problems, rushing products out when they’re not ready shouldn’t really be happening.

These things shouldn’t happen.

when you put them up against each other NBA Live looks shockingly bad graphics wise. It looks like a game from 5 years ago.

2k should pay for the Fifa licence and create a fifa game. They seem to do a hell of a job in terms of graphics and deep career modes.
