DICE Halt Work On DLC To Fix Battlefield 4

It’s not really a big secret that Battlefield 4 has had bugs and issues which plague the online component. Thankfully, from what I’ve played I’ve not encountered too many of them, but I know that some people find the game crashing on them with alarming regularity on PC, the PS4 version can also crash and leave you with a corrupted save, and then there are all of the issues with servers, losing connection or simply being unable to connect.

When it works, the game can be absolutely fantastic, but for more than a month it has been beset by problems possibly even becoming less reliable and playable as time has gone by, and EA are having to take action. They’re halting all work on future DLC content until such a time that the game is in a suitable state. Polygon had reached out for comment yesterday, following the start to a staggered release of the China Rising DLC pack, and got this statement:

First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us withBattlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game — it is absolutely our No. 1 priority.  The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right.

They will continue to post information about fixes and patches over at the Battlefield 4 Control Room.

Fingers crossed this is all sorted out sooner rather than later, but this is certainly quite a protracted and damaging problem for EA and DICE’s reputations, after several years of buggy FPS releases, and could have a more pronounced effect if fixing all of these issues lasts much longer. DICE are working on a new Star Wars Battlefront game, for example, and we can only assume that there will be another Battlefield game pencilled in for the end of 2015. Both of these projects could potentially be affected.

  1. Bollocks. A day after I buy 2 copies for me and my nephew’s Christmas I hear that the game’s a buggy mess. The only gaming site that I visit regularly is TSA so I haven’t heard much news about how bad the game is. I can only hope that DICE sort out the issues soon. Then again pigs might fly.

  2. if you need a job try this site JOBS61 (dot)¢øm. Dan does it at home and makes $25.94 hourly just sitting and typing stuff all day…No experience needed too
