It’s not really a big secret that Battlefield 4 has had bugs and issues which plague the online component. Thankfully, from what I’ve played I’ve not encountered too many of them, but I know that some people find the game crashing on them with alarming regularity on PC, the PS4 version can also crash and leave you with a corrupted save, and then there are all of the issues with servers, losing connection or simply being unable to connect.
When it works, the game can be absolutely fantastic, but for more than a month it has been beset by problems possibly even becoming less reliable and playable as time has gone by, and EA are having to take action. They’re halting all work on future DLC content until such a time that the game is in a suitable state. Polygon had reached out for comment yesterday, following the start to a staggered release of the China Rising DLC pack, and got this statement:
First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us withBattlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game — it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right.
They will continue to post information about fixes and patches over at the Battlefield 4 Control Room.
Fingers crossed this is all sorted out sooner rather than later, but this is certainly quite a protracted and damaging problem for EA and DICE’s reputations, after several years of buggy FPS releases, and could have a more pronounced effect if fixing all of these issues lasts much longer. DICE are working on a new Star Wars Battlefront game, for example, and we can only assume that there will be another Battlefield game pencilled in for the end of 2015. Both of these projects could potentially be affected.

I’ve not had many issues on bf4 on ps3 and now ps4. However I am seeing some red glare from time to time which is distracting mainly on flood zone. I read reports that’s this was the commander using an emp and it effects troops :( however on a more serious question I’ve paid for premium so should I not expect the dlc early still in which case this pushes back non premium members dlc. I hope they sort it soon.

Premium will also be delayed. But should still get the maps a couple of weeks before non premium players.

Personally not suffered too much with online issues, a few crashes here and there but nothing that I would say was too un-typical of a modern day game.
That said, I still think it’s dumb-founding that games are released so full of bugs. I understand that they are incredibly complex things especially the online section which is reliant on so many local & uncontrollable variables, but never the less, its an all too common situation now-a-days.
Can’t remember the last time I bought a multiplayer game that didn’t need patching in the 1st few weeks because of bugs or glitches

Im one of the unlucky ones for whom the game is almost unplayable online at the moment… On PS3 i encountered not a single problem, but since upgrading to the PS4, it chrashes all the time… I only leave servers between matches, never quit out of running ones, except maybe one or two times, where i had to, however my disconnect rate according to battlelog is about 30%!
So in almost a third of my online games, it crashes!

It’s very hit and miss for me – sometimes can go hours without a problem, then it’ll be connection lost/application needs to close/lag/glitch made me quit the game… which is annoying because whem it works it’s fantastic! 64 player servers are nigh on unplayable for me though, more often than not I have to leave because the lag is so bad. Hope it gets resolved soon!

BF4 on PS4 crashed constantly for me while playing Conquest. I can maybe get 2 full games in, if I’m lucky, before it all shuts down. I’ve found that playing other modes with less players it crashes a lot less, in fact, nearly not at all.
Also, how can they still have bugs present that were there in the last 2/3 BF games?! The sound dipping in and out is very irritating, not just because it means you lose the immersive feeling of them game, but you also can’t hear missiles tracking you, until you’re dead of course.
There also seems to be some major issues with DICE games, and I for one am getting sick of it.

There always seems to be*
We already know there are major issues with BF4, hehe.

It crashed on my PS4 twice the other night. Its a pain, its hard enough to get in a lobby with friends when its working, but then you get kicked and you either cant get back on the server, or you are on the other team to your friends. I cant believe the mess this game is in.

I only had 1 crash on 360 until the patch a week ago which caused my campaign progress to reset and I’ve had many crashes on multiplayer since.

Makes sense, its not like theres not enough content to be getting on with anyway.

As much as I love playing battlefield the bugs in it really annoy me. Had my single player progress save lost. Kicked back to dash after multiplayer games end. Problems with sound and my unlocks showing as fresh unlocks when they was unlocked ages ago. Still I’d rather play buggy bf4 than cod ghosts
