Amazon UK Launches PSN Storefront

Amazon have finally brought their PSN storefront to the UK, after it launched on their United States branch of Amazon one month ago. That means you’ll be able to buy PSN codes directly through Amazon.

What it also means is that – hopefully – you’ll be paying less than the prices you see on PSN, with Amazon discounting some games down the line.

It’s quite limited at the moment and there doesn’t appear to be any deals, but the launch of the US store saw discounts on games such as Sly Cooper and even Madden 25.

It also might be a good way of getting some late Christmas presents without the hassle of shipping them. So, if you’re like me and you leave your shopping to the last minute, then this could be great.

Update: Here’s the link to the current – rather sparse – store. Hopefully this will evolve into something much more similar to the recent US Amazon PSN Storefront, which offered some substantial discounts.

  1. A friend of mine said he successfully used the US Amazon store to buy Flower. Apparently you can register a US PSN account and merge it to your primary EU account. He said it worked out about £2 cheaper.

No idea how it works with game servers/playing online etc, anyone here tried it?

    • Haven’t tried merging it, but bought a load of PS4 stuff via it. Got Need for Speed Rivals, Knack, NBA 2K14, Assassin’s Creed 4 and season pass, all for about £35 each. Put the US account on my PS4, and play them via my main UK account.

      • Thanks, this’ll keep me occupied this evening. Gotta try this. I wonder how the merging works, or if it’s just doing what Spence said.

      • Hold on, does online work? I’m interested in Battlefield and couldn’t give a rats arse about the campaign. Might get NFS as well.

      • Triple post combo! BF4 and NFS aren’t available as digital code for PS4 on Amazon.

  2. Yay! Win for gamers, that is all.

  3. As I said yesterday, I hope we start seeing more online retailers who’ll do the regular 50% and 75% off sales.

  4. Very good to see. Hopefully we’ll be able to grab some of the digital content that UK specific priced rather than being in line with the rest of Europe

  5. this is great news. What is the link?

  6. not a lot there yet, but it’s a start.

with no competition there’s never been any real incentive to offer competitive pricing on the store.
hopefully this will go some way towards changing that.

  7. Great news. Will this mean competition in the digital prizes or is this just an alternative way of paying digital products?

  8. This is both awesome and awful.

I will never put my credit card onto the PSN store (obvious reasons why), and don’t ever impulse buy blocks of PSN credit. This will make buying something on the store to be 1-click, and without paying £10 for something that’s £6 and having £4 sitting there for months/years. Awesome.

It should hopefully mean that if I 1-click at work for PS4 it’ll be downloaded for when I get home. Awesome.

I don’t have much money though. Awful.

  9. As others have said it’s a bit sparce at the moment but hopefully it’ll evolve into something bigger and better through time.
