If you’re a PS Plus subscribers, then from the 28th until the 31st of December, you’ll be able to play PS4 flagship shooter Killzone Shadow Fall’s multiplayer component for free over the weekend, without having to purchase the full game.
It’s effectively a trial, but means you can see if the game is for you or not by diving into the full multiplayer component, which is quite excellently produced and a lot of fun if a little unbalanced.
You can start pre-loading straight away, and you will able to download the multiplayer portion first (but will have to eventually download the entire game, with single player remaining locked unless you buy), due to the PlayGo system, which means you can prioritise download of specific portions of the game.
There’s also a new update going live soon which addresses some of the issues including non-party voice chat and adds other unspecified requested features.
Additional multiplayer maps are on their way for free too, but we’ll have to wait until the start of next year before we hear any more about that.

I just think that the nano shield – which you can just stand behind and fire through – along with some of the spawn camping you can do on remote spawn points is a bit… off.

The Nano Shield thing is interesting. In a super-fast, twitch based game like CoD I could see a portable, one-way head glitch being super broken. KZ has always seemed better paced though, so if you see it coming then retreat and try and find a way around it…

I agree with the spawn camping thing, in fact most matches on certain maps seem to take place at one team or the others base camp.
Not sure what’s wrong with the nano shield though, I love killing the guys behind them with well thrown grenades, so satisfying and you get points for destroying the shield too. It also easily marks your location so you can be seen.

Spawn camping is easily undone, there are always at least two routes out of the main spawn area and the best way is to go support and set up a spawn beacon (points per spawn assist), or use scout and emergency teleport, then sneak up behind the campers….. although the Park map is very very bad for camping on choke points.

Im working on a big Killzone MP feature at the moment, kinda of a review of the MP now Ive time to play it A lot, and some tips.
As for Spawn camping, you’re doing it wrong, you have to play tactically and change classes and loadouts depending on the situation.
If your team is being spawn camped, simply select Scout with the Teleport feature. As soon as you spawn inside the base, Teleport out to the other side of the map then creep up behind the spawn camping bastards and chuck a grenade.

Cool, got this downloading at the mo. It was gonna be my first PS4 game but I went for Need for Speed instead. Despite mediocre reviews, I’ve generally heard very good thing about the game since, especially the Multiplayer

Even with the nano shield I think this game is the best balanced game I’ve seen so far from any multiplayer experience. It’s a blast and looks absolutely gorgeous.
