12 Deals Of Christmas Deal Eleven: GTA V & Killzone: Mercenary

The penultimate set of offers in Sony’s 12 Deals of Christmas is here, with just one final instalment set to come on Monday. This time out, we see offers for two of the biggest games of the year on their respective platforms.

Grand Theft Auto V is featured for the PS3, coming in at £34.99/€39.99. It might not sound like the best offer in the world, and the game has been on sale on disc for less than this, but if you want the digital version then this is the cheapest you’re likely to see it for quite some time.

However, the PS Store’s digital version quite notably had issues with pop in at release, most notable when travelling around the game world quickly. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to find anything conclusive to suggest that this has been addressed in any way, so keep that in mind, if you’re tempted by this offer. Hopefully someone can give us a shout in the comments if they know better that I do!

On PS Vita, there’s a pretty good deal with Killzone: Mercenary for £14.99/€19.99, and an extra 10% off for PS+ members. It’s easily the first FPS to do the system justice, so worth checking out. Just beware that it’s going to take up a lot of space on your memory card, and though recent patches have managed to reduce the footprint a little, you will quite likely have to make some more space!

These are then joined by your regular smorgasboard of country-specific film offers:

United Kingdom:
Fast and Furious 6
SD: Was £3.59, now £0.99
HD: Was £4.59, now £1.99

Australia:
The Great Gatsby
SD: Was AU$5.99, now AU$1.99
HD: Was AU$6.99, now AU$2.99

France:

Germany:

Italy:

HD: Was €4.99, now €1.99

Spain:

Until next time, for the final bundle of offers!

  1. Was waiting to see if killzone was on here. Very very tempted. Or wait for it on plus? Choices choices.

    • Buy it! You won’t be disappointed and for that low price you’ll always own it – PS+ subscription or not! :)

      • How much space does it take up altogether? I’m very tempted, I had a feeling it would crop up and £15 is ideal!

      • I got it. Downloading now. Will let you know the file size. They recommended 8gb to download.

      • 3399mb Ron. Not too bad on my 32gb card :-)

      • Oof, that’s a lot for my wee tiny 8GB! Thanks for that info though :) Im gonna wait and get it retail in the new year, in the mean time I’ve just bought Need For Speed Most Wanted, strangely tucked away on Amazons other new and used offers page for only £12.99.

      • Sadly there is also a hefty sized patch, but that’s going to be reduced by 800Mb soon, along with the addition of two extra multiplayer maps (for free)! :)

      • Downloaded and playing now. Loving it so far. Kill a lot quicker than other killzones

      • Phew! Glad you like it ;)

      • The new patch has already come out, reducing overall patch size to 370MB approximately. I highly recommend the game. There will be 2 new maps and bot support soon enough as well.

I might set up a few small meets in the new year, it’d be good to return to the game.

      • Really enjoying killzone, been looking at it for a while. Already run my battery down once playing non stop. Bargain for less than £14. What do they have lined up for last deal tomorrow? Something big?

      • Rumours are the last of us and persona 4 golden (which id snap up). I say rumours; more just want people are winging most for on the blog

  2. Aww crap, missed AC4!

    • Don’t fret my friend…

It’s £22.49 in Game until Christmas Eve. :-)

  3. How typical. Just bought this on Amazon for £27.99…

    Bah Humbug! ;-)

  4. Does the digital version of GTA have vastly improved load times, i.e when switching characters / moving to online?

  5. Very tempted by Killzone, really wanted that when it came out… I was kinda wanting a physical copy though :/

That GTA V “deal” is a joke lol.

  6. i don’t know how they’d fix the GTA digital version’s pop in issues.
they built the game to have two sources for the game data, the install on the hard drive and the disc.

if the whole game is on the hard drive, there’s only one place to stream the data from so it would take longer.

isn’t that why there were performance issues with the 360 version if the play disc was installed.

you’re probably better off getting a physical copy.
and you can probably find one cheaper than that sale price too if you shop around.

  7. Why are Sony’s servers so slo?, downloaded AC4 and it was less than 1mb/sec, took all day and night, pretty poor for a tech giant like sony

  8. Hmmm. Very tempted by Mercenaries but given I’ve just cleared space for Tuesday’s Soul Sacrifice freebie, I think I’ll hold off & make it my first physical title in the sales.
