PlayStation Plus Subscriptions Up 90% Since PS4 Launch

Sony have revealed that subscriptions to its premium PlayStation Plus service have jumped 90% since the launch of the PlayStation 4.

The subscription is required if gamers want to play online titles on the new console, that probably explains the huge increase in subscribers who also get Resogun and as of today, Don’t Starve, for free.

It has also been revealed that PlayStation 4 broadcasts now account for 20% of all streams on Twitch, double the amount that was broadcasting in December.

PlayStation Now, the streaming service for games and films, has also started taking applications for beta testers, so if you are in based in the U.S. then click here to register.

  1. I subscribed to Plus just for the PS4 but I took the promotion to get PS+ free for three months until the PS4 launched which was cool. I probably won’t touch the PS3 freebies I got and I still haven’t played online with my PS4 but I feel like it has already been worth it for Resogun and now Don’t Starve.
I also haven’t touched any Vita freebies besides two hours of Uncharted: Godlen Abyss… Too many games to play!

  2. I subscribed to PlayStation Plus on day one when it was first introduced. I was surprised at how many of my friends subscribed to it after the 2011 hacking and they were given a free trial period; I’ve only noticed a few others getting it since the PS4 introduction.
