Tim Schafer Breaks Out Broken Age’s Release Date – Access From Tomorrow

The Double Fine developed Broken Age will release tomorrow for Kickstarter backers. They’ll be able to download and play Act 1 of the multi-levelled adventure game before anyone else, and a public release date will be announced when backers gain access.

He added in another tweet:

Haven’t shipped a game of my own in 4.5 years, an adventure game in 16, a point-n-click in almost 20. Next Tuesday is going to be exciting!

It’s a big day for Schafer then, and the adventure game which stars Elijah Wood and Jack Black will conclude in a few months, when the second act becomes available for those who have purchased the first.

Broken Age – you might remember – was the game that really kickstarted the idea of using crowdfunding to help develop your game back in 2012, raising over $3.3 million over the course of its campaign, with many more successful and unsuccessful titles attempting to do the same.

  1. Do we know anything about which formats this will release on? I’m guessing its PC and Mac at the start, but I’ve not read anything about it releasing on consoles?

  2. No pressure, then. :-)

  3. It sounds interesting, but after a save-crippling bug in Brutal Legend I won’t be buying a Double Fine game for a long while yet, at least until it’s been thoroughly tested by others.
