It’s been a while since we’ve had a good old tournament or competition. Our fingers are rusty and prize cupboards are stocked to the brim, but this year we’re going to change that. We’ll get to the details a bit later, but community member Tony Cawley is on board to help organise future competitions and challenges.
We’re starting with Plus Point Challenges, which is a new community feature involving PlayStation Plus, points and prizes. I’ll hand you over to Tony to explain.
A large amount of the success of TSA has been built around a community that accesses the website on a daily basis. Not only is there always mature discussion on the articles and forums, but a lot of friendships have been built after initially meeting on TSA. In order to continue that tradition and in an attempt to further increase community interaction, TSA is excited to announce a new feature that will be running over the course of the following weeks and months – Plus Point Challenges.
This will be an ongoing competition amongst TSA’s community members based on a series of challenges, all taken from the games that Sony put in their PS+ Instant Game Collection each month for the PS4. In basic terms, we will run a competition each month that will ask you to set a high score, get the best time or complete some other challenge within a game, competing directly against the rest of the TSA community.
Winners of each challenge will be awarded points as follows:
- 1st place will receive 10 points.
- 2nd place will receive 9 points.
- 3rd place will receive 8 points.
- 4th place will receive 7 points.
- 5th place will receive 6 points.
- 6th place will receive 5 points.
- 7th place will receive 4 points.
- 8th place will receive 3 points.
- 9th place will receive 2 points.
- Every other person who submits an entry will receive 1 point.
The first TSA member to get to 50 points (or whoever gets highest, if two people reach the 50 point milestone at once) over the course of the coming months will win a code for a year of PlayStation Plus. On top of that, everyone who enters each month will be put into a hat and a randomly chosen lucky entrant will receive a £10 PSN voucher.
We’ll naturally be keeping a leaderboard, so you won’t need to keep a total of your own score, and you’ll be able to see who you have to try and beat, or how much you’ve left to go before having a chance to win that elusive top prize.
Every month there will also be bonus points on offer for achieving a specific task within the chosen game. This could be anything from being the first to submit a screenshot of an exact score, or first to send in an image of a level completion screen showing certain stats, to provide another way to get points. You should get the picture by now, but we’ll explain clearly in the first challenge post tomorrow.
Just one word of warning though, these competitions will be entered by sharing screenshots on Twitter with a game-specific hashtag. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you’ve got yourself a Twitter account set up, which you can do here, and maybe acquaint yourself with your PS4’s Share button, which is probably the easiest way to upload screenshots.
So there we have it. Plus Point Challenges and their leaderboards. We will kick things off tomorrow with the announcement of the first game, and exactly what you’ll have to do to be in with a chance of winning.
Let us know your thoughts on all of this in the comments below.

This sounds like a lot of fun, fair to say I’m up for this. Can’t see myself being very good at it but it’s worth a try!

Great… It seems that you need someone to go last!

Oooh lovely, makes sense to use the plus games aswell. I probably won’t be bothering with the Twitter malarkey though, but good luck to all!

Oh come on, it takes 2 minutes effort to set up a twitter account then about 10 seconds to share a screen shot. The more the merrier!
Blair Inglis
We were going to have a forum thread but it’s genuinely easier to share to a twitter account than copy a file from the PS4!

I have a Twitter account, but rarely use it, so don’t have it linked to PS4. I’m not all for sharing everything with the whole world really, read too many conspiracies! I know I’m being a bit of a let down lol.
But seriously, great idea, don’t worry about one little reserved gamer over here, I’ll look forward to following (umm, pun unintended) the competitions unfold, I assume there’ll be summary articles for each month?

You could just create a Twitter account just for this Beeje! Literally only use it to tweet these results.

Ok Tony you’ve won me over, I think I’ll link my twitter, although will my PS4 auto tweet things and can I switch it off? I don’t want that, had that with PS3 and Facebook (I didn’t realise) and people were moaning about my trophies filling up their timelines…
tonycawley
Nope, it literally only Tweets what you tell it to, so pretty much just screenshots that you choose to share. It’s actually pretty damn nifty. If you never upload a screenshot, your PS4 will never post on Twitter for you.

Right thanks, I’m trying to link my account, and I sign in successfully and press authorize, the browser disappears and please wait pops up for a few seconds, then I get ‘an error occurred during communication with the server’… This happens every time I try. I’ve checked by trying to share a screenshot and it doesn’t work, same error. I’ll keep trying over the next few days.
Maybe I’m not meant to do it after all :O

Can’t wait to showcase my shit Resogun skills!

Some competition for the Vita perhaps ? :)
