The Wolf Among Us Episode 2 Releasing In February

Telltale have confirmed that the second episode in their series based on the Fables comic series, The Wolf Among Us, will launch in the first week of February. They’re currently working very hard with the platform holders to make sure that it will be available on the same systems as the first one – PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, PC and iOS. The game has not yet been announced for PS4 and Xbox One.

It’s been a long wait since the conclusion of the first episode, which launched in October, though this shouldn’t happen again – speaking on the Telltale Community site, Telltale’s president said that this was due to “an unusual and specific set of circumstances” and that they “do not anticipate it happening again as we go forward with the rest of the season”.

That’s good news then, and now there’s only really a couple of weeks to wait before you can get your wolf on and explore the land of the Fables once again.

The second episode continues the strong basis for a plot set in the first one, which saw these alternative fairytale creatures live in squalor in crime in a suburb of New York city. It’s suitably titled Smoke and Mirrors and sees Bigby Wolf investigating the serial killing stalking the streets of Fabletown.

We reviewed the first episode and scored it 8/10, highlighting the bleak but brilliant setting and excellent story. The choice system felt limited, however, and it’s very much like The Walking Dead in its execution, rather than bringing much new to the gameplay.

Let’s hope that episode 2 is a bit different and the choices actually make a big difference.

  1. Hopefully they’ll release this on vita once the season is finished.

  2. The game is wonderful, even better than The Walkjng Dead in my opinion, especially with the back-story collectables. However, with the terrible delays they had with season 1 of The Walking Dead, you would have thought they’d have learnt and not fucked up again. As a buyer if the season pass, releasing the first two episodes 4 months apart is beyond poor. Fuck the other formats, honour the customers who bought the PS3 season pass first.

    • I have the PS3 and the PS4. The space on my PS3 is getting filled up recently with all of the PS+ games and the 2014 price cuts. Would you recommend me getting it for the PS3 or wait for the PS4? Or should I just wait until all of the episodes are released together? I ask because I bought The Walking Dead Telltales after all of the episodes were released.

      • Well it hasn’t been announced for PS4 so PS3 might be the way to go. If the season pass is cheaper then I’d say to buy that, assuming you’re likely to playthrough the entire game. You could buy the season pass to save money, but perhaps hold off playing it if you’d rather play it over a shorter period of time. I really enjoyed it and think it’s brilliant!

  3. Took them long enough. Was expecting this way back in November.
