It was a busy podcast this week. For starters, we had all four regular co-hosts available and in good spirits. That always means we babble a little more than needed. Then we let Kris do the quiz and he pauses for suspense like Ant & Dec throwing someone out of a jungle.
There was plenty of news to get through, including the recent upturn in fortunes for Game, Double Fine’s review embargo mistakes, Sony’s PS4 sales and SimCity’s new offline mode. Then we discussed the nominations for Oscars, which are all for films I haven’t seen yet.
I got to talk a bit about Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and The Stanley Parable while Lewis told us about the harrowing 12 Years a Slave and he and Kev both talked about Lego Marvel too. Kris also had news of Detective Comics #27, which is a cool little Batman anthology.
Kris did a quiz about comics that one of us absolutely excelled at and then we discussed some listener questions before Lewis and Kev fell out and we all said goodbye.

Thank you very much for the special greeting :) was totally not expecting that.
Okami has a lot of drawing in it and was still a fantastic game. I played it recently and loved it so much I got a platinum trophy in it at my first playthrough.
Borderlands 2 on PSV was announced at a big conference, but I don’t remember if it was E3 or Gamescome. How could you guys missed that…but on the other hand since the initial announcement there was not even a twitter line about it. A bit strange ?
I was thinking about joining you guys in the podcast via twitter, but I’m not that good with it and I don’t really know how the whole things works. I mean I know how to use twitter, but how to join you guys at the podcast time and be active in discussions and stuff.

i think the only thing the hackers changed to allow Sim City to be played offline was to disable the half hour check in that shut down the game if you were offline.
all Maxis had to do was do that and allow local saves and there you go.
wasn’t Gravity filmed in the uk?
i quick look at the Wiki page would seem to indicate that most of it was filmed at Shepperton and Pinewood.
and most of the effects work was done by a london based VFX company, Framestore.
i think that might be enough to qualify it as a british film.
it’s Clark Gregg who play’s Coulson, not Gregg Clark.
for question 3, Shazam should be an acceptable answer because Marvel have taken back the Captain Marvel name, Ms Marvel, Carol Danvers, is now Captain Marvel, she finally accepted the name after the original owner of that title, and the person she got her powers from, Mar-Vell died.
Captain America convinced her to accept it despite her fears that it would be disrespecting Mar-Vell.
this happened in the first issue of the Captain Marvel.
she also got a new costume and hair do.
and there’s going to be a new Ms Marvel, a Muslim woman apparently, it should be interesting to see the reaction to her.
especially in the US.
anyway, i would have got ten out of ten but i thought the anniversary of Batman was the past year rather than the current year that’s just begun.
i should have realised, but i consider that a good score, one silly mistake cost me a perfect score, but hey, it’s better than i usually do.
i’d like to see more RPGs on Vita.
Dragon’s dogma, any of the Fallout games, or Ni No Kuni would be cool.
with regards to Kris writing about comics, recommendations or suggestions for titles released on Comixology would be great.
just any you’ve read that stood out as being particularly good.
it can be hard to know what’s worth picking up, or downloading, when they have so many.
so a recommendation from a trusted source would be handy.
i’d rather get physical issues, but there’s not really any comic shops within easy reach of me.
not when i have to use public transport.
but i’d also enjoy reviews of comics.
