Borderlands 2 Blasts Onto Vita On March 18th

I had completely forgotten that Borderlands 2 was coming to Vita. I have vague recollections of hearing about it a while back but when it was brought up on this week’s podcast, I said “is it?” and needed to check for sure. So it’s something of a surprise that it’s coming quite soon.

I was a huge fan of the game on consoles over a year ago and the thought of being able to play around in that huge game world on my Vita is quite exciting. Hopefully it won’t lose too much in the conversion – we’ll get some sort of review or appraisal up on the site as soon as we can get our hands on it, hopefully before that March 18th release date(that’s a Tuesday so we assume it’ll be March 19th for UK/EU).

Update: 2KInternational has just deleted the tweet referenced above. Hopefully that’s just an error and not a sign of something more. We’ve contacted 2K for clarification.

Update 2: 2K has now tweeted again, claiming that the date was an error.

  1. Hopefully it will be cross play. Regardless, I’ll still be getting it – though I probably won’t play it till I have finished Toukiden, as that should be here in February.

So much for no games on the vita – there are always games in my queue.

  2. 2015?

  3. Will be very interested to see what this is like and how much of the game they can squeeze into the Vita. Only play the first Borderlands on PS3, have 2 lined up through PS+ but not touched it yet. Would be happy to wait till the Vita version if its a good port.

    • I was going to post exactly the same. B2 in PS3 untouched but I would love to play this on Vita.

  4. I thought the first game was pretty boring, but to have something like this on Vita will be nice. Will probably buy this.

  5. Loved the first game. Could be my PS3 favourite. Currently playing BL2 from PS+ with some friends and it looks like it is even better. Interesting to see if the PSV version will be a GOTY edition, with all DLC and stuff.

  6. Hopefully they just deleted the tweet because they weren’t supposed to announce it that way.

  7. Borderlands 2 could possibly be the funniest game ever. At times, too funny. I’ve died at times because it’s hard to pay attention to not dying when laughing so much. How many other games contain the words “wall sphincters”?

Unfortunately, it’s exactly the sort of game that doesn’t work well on a small screen. The Vita might be technically capable of doing some very nice looking FPS games, but that doesn’t mean they play well.

  8. I just hope it’s a good port, but with the lack of information surrounding it I’m concerned it may not be.

  9. I cant believe they can get a game the siz of BL2 onto vita, fair play to them i cant wait to give it a go.

  10. Never played it, so looking forward to trying it out on vita, have heard good things about the game.
